Wall Street really convinced millions of 25-year-olds to skip Europe, drive a 2008 Corolla, and shovel every spare dollar into retirement accounts for 40 years.
Then private equity started buying the nursing homes.
Now you're 79, paying $12,000 a month to eat microwaved meatloaf under fluorescent lights while a guy named Harold screams at Wheel of Fortune.
They convinced you to save the money and then figured out how to take it all back.
Don’t call it financial planning.
Call it what it is: vertically integrated fucking robbery.

Some finance bro with a podcast will look a 26-year-old dead in the eyes and explain that a $2,000 vacation is actually costing them $32,000 in compound interest.
By that logic, dating is a liability, birthdays are a cash-flow leak, and having children is a hostile takeover.
At some point it's not financial literacy anymore.
It's just being miserable with Excel open.

Americans will take out a $90,000 home equity loan to remodel a kitchen they use exclusively to open DoorDash bags, then lecture a 26-year-old about how spending $4,000 backpacking through Europe is financially irresponsible.
One of them got to see the fucking world while they were young.
The other got a farmhouse sink, 14 recessed lights, and a wife who now wants to redo the bathroom.
But apparently the guy in Italy is the one who doesn't understand money.

A U.S. congressman wants to change how we legally “own” video games.
Rep. Ritchie Torres has announced plans to introduce the Power To The Players Act, a bill that would direct the FTC to create rules protecting consumers who buy video games.
The proposal would give players three basic rights:
>The right to own the games they purchase, rather than simply receiving a revocable license
>The right to keep playing games after online servers are shut down, through an offline mode
>The right to transfer or resell games they own
Torres argues that if a company can take a game away simply by shutting down its servers, then the consumer didn’t really buy the game in the first place.
Torres also hopes the legislation could eventually establish a precedent for ownership rights across other parts of the digital economy:
“If you pay for it, you own it.”

Some of you are going to spend your entire youth driving a 2008 Corolla, eating unseasoned chicken, and declining trips to Europe because you need to max out your Roth IRA.
Then you'll die at 66 with $3.7 million in Vanguard.
Your wife's second husband will spend $42,000 of it on a Mediterranean cruise, order the lobster twice, and post "money comes and goes, memories last forever."
And the worst part?
That mf will be right.
