PAPER! 🌊 Before the Atlantic megaflood, rivers & rain began refilling the desiccated Mediterranean—but sea levels oscillated by over a kilometre, driven by orbital climate cycles. This dynamic phase lasted 200,000+ years.

🌍 But it wasn’t a simple refill: Sea level oscillated by over a kilometre, driven by orbital cycles in Earth’s insolation. These shifts caused alternating wetter and drier phases, reshaping the landscape repeatedly over 200,000+ years.

Very happy to have this published today in @ScienceAdvances
We may have a detailed picture of how the Mediterranean level evolved.
