ALT The first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 1, and our School Nutrition Services Department is ready to nourish students. This year ALL students will continue to receive free breakfast, and ALL students at 12 of our schools, regardless of family income, can also receive free lunch. This change and our commitment to provide more locally-sourced food are improving students' access to nutritious food in Bulloch County. Did you know that Bulloch County has the 65th highest rate of Georgia’s 159 counties for students with the lack of consistent access to food in order to live an active healthy life? Last year we served more than 1.8 million meals to children, and 69.28 % of our 11,024 students qualify for free or reduced-price meals at school. And last year we purchased $18,252 in food items from local farmers. Learn more about these and other important School Nutrition Services updates for the upcoming school year on our website.
