In this post, I highlight @JupiterIntel collaboration with the International Energy Agency (@IEA ) in this year's World Energy Outlook report in leveraging our climate physical risk metrics to quantify financial impact on critical energy infrastructure. jupiterintel.com/blogs/world…

Planning for increased extreme events arising from Climate Change is increasingly essential. Chemical companies all over the planet need Jupiter's services. It's actually negligent to not plan for this and CEOs have been indicted.
Ominous statement from Dow Chemical on the current status of its sprawling chemical plant and headquarters complex in flooded Midland, Michigan. "At approximately 10:00 a.m. Eastern it was confirmed there were flood waters commingling with on-site containment ponds."

I produced a few charts looking at BP's Statistical Review of World Energy 2019 to have a better understanding of Australia's role in the global coal market. I'm concerned about the ongoing fire crisis and wanted more perspective on the issue. (thread)

I decided to investigate further by taking a look at @IEA data. Turns out that Dutch coal consumption skyrocketed in 2015. I turned to @RalienBekkers and @Sustainable2050 for ideas.

Turns out 3 new coal fire plants came online in 2015. Old ones had not close yet, a perfect storm of coal-related emissions. More reading here: ieefa.org/wp-content/uploads… This leaves the Dutch with giant stranded asset risks. Interesting, in light of the new Supreme Court decision

This is yesterday’s global temperature map. Australia is on fire. Literally on fire. I live in Melbourne and cycled home from work in 44.4 Celsius. Bushfire smoke everywhere, catastrophic air quality rating. Source: buff.ly/35JbIG1

Hey @RalienBekkers long time no talk! I was doing some research on CO2 emission intensity in the EU. The Netherlands is the only country since 2012 whose CO2 emission intensity for electricity generation has increased. Any ideas why? bit.ly/35Ee20Q

@RalienBekkers correction, the Netherlands, Latvia, and the Czech Republic are the only three countries with rising CO2 emission intensity in the EU28 since 2012. Look at coal consumption skyrocketing in 2015 the Netherlands below. What happened there?!
