The grassroots programme that led to our forthcoming anthology started in 2022. The book includes eleven South Asian women poets from the North East whose writing celebrates their communities and cultures, as well as exposing raw, lived experiences of racism and silencing.

Here's some positive news in what are some of the bleakest and scariest days. More information on this joyful, grassroots poetry book will be coming soon.
Print, as ever, means Resistance.
Now feels like the right time to tell you that in November we're publishing a new poetry anthology by South Asian women writers living in the North East of England.
With thanks to programmes led by @NewWritingNorth funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority and @phf_uk.

We stand together.
Butcher's Dog stands in opposition to all forms of fascism.

Finally got to read issue 20 of @ButchersDogMag. Had to (temporarily) run away from home to do so. Well done @_dodo for putting together such a fabulous issue single-handedly. Feel very proud to have made the long-list for this!

It is hard to receive news that @ButchersDogMag is on pause for a year. I can only hope it makes a positive comeback
Issue 20 is out now.
From here, we're pressing pause on publishing the magazine. This is so we can take a breather, rewrite a funding bid and focus on exciting new BD things.
Please support this fallow year by buying a copy of the magazine.
Stay tuned for more info! – at Gateshead, England

I’m in the midst of a haul of poetry rejections, but there is light in Butcher’s Dog. Reading my poem with a host of other poets was a joy this week 💗@ButchersDogMag @McrWritingSchl
