The @ONgov “Roadmap to Reopening” is a dead-end for the #performingarts. I demand #FairnessForArtsON: Reopen rehearsals in Step 1. Allow filming in performance spaces in Step 1. Set capacity limits based on square footage. The #arts are an essential part of my #Ontario.

.@LisaMacLeod next up, REHEARSALS must be included in stage 1 of your govt’s roadmap. If sports teams can practice, WHY can’t live performers? Performing arts does not come together overnight as you seem to think. They need a RUNWAY to re-opening!

First up, @LisaMacLeod. We need live-streaming back IMMEDIATELY. This is a SAFE lifeline for performing artists (AND THEIR AUDIENCE) during the pandemic and it has been taken away without any science-based evidence as to WHY.

Live Arts is CRUCIAL to our economic recovery, job creation AND mental health! Yet, @fordnation reopening plan continues to leave them behind. Built on the sector's voices, @ChrisGloverMPP and I have written letters to the gov't in support. #onpoli #COVID19 #FairnessForArtsON 1/

"“During the pandemic these workers had nothing to fall back on. That posed a threat to public health, as well as equity, because these people were compelled to keep working no matter what."

' “EI has to join the 21st century because to me, an EI that doesn’t cover everybody isn’t a functional or realistic or fair or useful EI,” said Hinds.' Artists & #Theatre workers are a big part the gig economy! Thank you Canadian Press for the spotlight. thestar.com/business/2021/04…

As Liberals consider EI update, gig workers hope to qualify for social safety net

Ryan G. Hinds longs for the days of walking through the halls of a theatre and seeing musicians warm up, stage managers chit-chatting and technicians sharing a piece of licorice before a show.

It’s been 16 months since @MoceanDance has been on stage with a live audience. That hiatus is about to end with 3 hybrid shows Apr 9-11. As the country shifts in and out of closures, this kind of show gives hope and excitement for many more cross country hybrid shows to come!
