Meet David, the first-ever @UW_Football Husky Hero. He first ran the field at 11 years old while in treatment in 2023. Now 14, David is 21 months off therapy.
Three years after his first visit, on the eve of our Big Ten matchup against Iowa, David came home to a brand-new team in a whole new chapter of his life.

Having just completed his second month of chemotherapy, 11-year-old Juan meets every day with the grit and grace that make him a Husky Hero in every sense of the word.
Juan usually undergoes treatment from his home in Monroe, Washington, with trips to Seattle for care at @seattlechildren as he fights high-risk ALL leukemia. This time, he made the trip just to keep up with his Dawgs.
Juan spent time at Husky Stadium surrounded by friends and family repping his custom design for Project Superstar, the community fundraiser supporting Seattle Children’s through Race Porter’s Heart on My Sleeve (HOMS).
Juan and his crew even got a game of soccer going with the same Dawgs who will face Minnesota tomorrow in their first Big Ten game of the season.
Husky Hero Juan will be watching from their corner when they do. We hope he knows they’ll always be in his corner, too.
Keep shining, Juan. We’re so proud you’re one of us. 🐾

What is important is not so much how long you live as whether you live a meaningful life. This doesn’t mean accumulating money and fame, but being of service to your fellow human beings. It means helping others if you can, but even if you can’t do that, at least not harming them.

Is it over for human doctors?
No. Airliners can largely take off, fly, and land themselves. We still put two pilots up front, for judgment, edge cases, and trust. Same in the exam room.
