ALT CHDI's Rosie Briendel and Rebekah Behan stand together in front of the projector screen at their CASBHC presentation. They are dressed in professional clothing and smiling at the camera. The screen behind them reads, "Expanding Comprehensive School Mental Health: A Collaborative Effort in Connecticut."

ALT Guilty on all charges. With that verdict, the former police officer who murdered George Floyd will be held accountable for his brutal actions. While this verdict is a necessary acknowledgment of the deadly consequences of anti-Black racism, it is of course by no means sufficient for dismantling the racist policies, procedures, and healthcare landscape that drive health inequities for minoritized people and marginalized communities. At YSPH, we recognize that much work remains to achieve true justice. We are excited to welcome two new faculty members who are experts in racism and health. Their scholarship, community engagement, and teaching will bolster YSPH’s leadership in advancing social justice and eliminating anti-Black racism and structural biases that result in health inequities. While episodes of abuse, injustice, and killings continue, it feels like we are in a moment of hope. It is incumbent on us all to work harder than ever on achieving our core mission of health for all.
