It will unlock economic potential across the five counties in its corridor.
CEO, David Hughes, outlined how the line is fundamental to support growth, employment and higher wages. 🚉

The Budget is a chance to make aviation pay its fair share. Flying is the most carbon-intensive form of travel, yet aviation fuel remains tax-free. We're calling for a kerosene tax, a frequent flyer levy & higher APD on private jets to fund better local transport & cut emissions.
Better bus services, please! Not managed decline. Mayor Bristow must live up to his promise to 'Get Cambridgeshire Moving!'

Could health do for transport what it did for smoking?
Car-first streets mean crashes, pollution, noise, stress, inactivity and isolation.
Public health changed smoking by making the risks impossible to ignore.
It could do the same for transport.

#Bedford 27-9-26 to 27-10-26. Between 21:00 and 06:00, excluding Fridays and Saturday night, bus services will be unable to access the bus station in Bedford.
All passengers will be dropped off and picked up from St Paul's Square during the periods of closure
Of interest to people using Sidgwick Avenue is the upcoming work to improve the currently dreadful state for those walking and wheeling. There's also a survey which closes October 19th.

🚍 1 in 7 people in England are at risk of being left behind by inadequate bus services. We're calling on the Gov to use the Budget to invest an extra £300m a year in local buses to reconnect communities, boost opportunities and ensure everyone can access a decent bus service.

The impact of bus franchising and local control is being truly felt in St Helens - the step change and investment is impressive.
One of the biggest problems with trying to run a decent bus service is the impact of congestion - all the other vehicles clogging up the roads. This report might be 10 years old but the points it makes are still true today.

From 1 October, the final phase of the Accessible Information Regulations (AIR) comes into force, bringing older vehicles into scope and marking an important milestone for accessible bus travel bit.ly/4hWl60i

ALT Image and quote from Lydia Horbury - The Regulations set the standard, but now we need to make sure the reality lives up to it. Announcements need to be heard, displays need to be visible and accurate, and passengers need to be able to trust the information they are given. Accessibility isn’t achieved simply by fitting the equipment: it’s achieved when passengers can travel independently, confidently and with dignity.
