As part of the climate resilience
movement in Chennai, children from Ramapuram just had one of the most important climate conversations this city has seen.
From the streets of Ramapuram to the office of Supriya Sahu IAS, the Addl Chief Secretary of
Environment, Climate Change.
Children from the Youth Climate Resilience Movement of Vyasarpadi and Ramapuram presented their report "The Future Amidst Scorching Heat", directly to key officials shaping Chennai's climate response:
The GCC Commissioner,
The Director of School Education
The District Collector
In these meetings, children shared their research findings from the field and put forward their demands for heat-safe schools and communities — turning their observations into advocacy, and their voices into policy conversations.

Community-led study reveals, Vyasarpadi fared worse than Ramapuram on several indicators of heat exposure, with 94.7% of respondents reporting dehydration against 89% in Ramapuram. Heat-related hospitalisation was reported by 38.3%, while headaches affected 78.2% in Vyasarpadi.
