Great to be back at my alma mater @Dartmouth to talk about national security. Speaking with @DartmouthReview brought back memories of my editor-in-chief days. Encouraging to see great young minds interested in public service.

Today we held a moment of silence to remember the loved ones lost on that tragic Tuesday 25 years ago. CIA will continue to relentlessly fight terrorists and defeat America's adversaries.
CIA remembers the nearly 3,000 lives lost on 9/11 when terrorists struck the United States. We led the first strikes in Afghanistan and continue to relentlessly hunt down those who pose a threat to Americans. CIA will neither forget, nor rest in pursuit of our Nation's enemies.

Marines have served as members of America's Intel Community for longer than CIA has existed. Your record is a thing of legend. In great part because of the Marines, our Nation still has its liberty. Thank you for the invitation to represent @CIA at the Evening Parade, Gen. Adams.

A CIA security officer assisting in recovery operations at the World Trade Center pulled this flag from the wreckage ten days after the forces of terror struck the Nation on 9/11. It's a powerful symbol. Through triumphs and trials alike, our Republic will endure.

Before making the ultimate sacrifice, Nathan Hale purportedly said "I only regret that I have but one life to give to my country." Each day at CIA, we carry forth this commitment to sacrifice for all Americans and our shared destiny.

1/ One of Hale’s friends and fellow classmates at Yale was Benjamin Tallmadge, who joined the Continental Army in June 1776. The war was personal for Tallmadge—his older brother was captured in battle and starved to death on a British prison ship that same summer.

🧵 1/ Where better to start than Nathan Hale, who graduated from Yale College in 1773 at the age of eighteen. At the outbreak of the Revolutionary War, he joined first the Connecticut militia and then Knowlton’s Rangers, a reconnaissance unit in the Continental Army.
