πŸ“·πŸ“· Celebrating Black History Month at the Foreign Secretary’s Reception Dr. Tasha Ebanks Garcia, the Cayman Islands Government Representative to the UK, was delighted to attend the Foreign Secretary’s reception in celebration of Black History Month at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The reception provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the contributions of Black communities to British society, reconnect with familiar faces and build new relationships. πŸ“· Dr. Tasha enjoyed meeting Callum Anderson MP, with whom she shares Caribbean heritage, and connecting over their common Caribbean roots. It was also a pleasure to catch up with Minister Uma Kumaran MP, the UK's Minister responsible for the Overseas Territories, ahead of the upcoming Joint Ministerial Council (JMC), when leaders from across the British Overseas Territories will gather in London. πŸ“· Another highlight of the evening was reconnecting with Baroness Floella Benjamin, whose remarkable contributions to broadcasting, public life and advocacy continue to inspire generations. An enjoyable evening celebrating Black history, shared heritage and the connections that bring our communities together. #BlackHistoryMonth #CaymanIslands #CaymanIslandsUK #CaribbeanHeritage #UKOverseasTerritories #CIGOUK

πŸ‡°πŸ‡ΎπŸ€πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ It was wonderful to catch up with two longstanding friends of the Cayman Islands at Conservative Party Conference: former Foreign Secretary James Cleverly MP and former Minister for the Overseas Territories David Rutley. Both have a strong understanding of the Overseas Territories and the important role they play within the wider British family. During their time at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the Cayman Islands worked closely with them on a range of shared priorities, making it particularly good to reconnect in Birmingham.
