ALT Heat-Related Deaths ARE Preventable. LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK. The temperature in your car can quickly become deadly!

ALT Year-round, never leave kids in cars! Roughly a third of child hot car deaths occur outside of the summer months. Check the backseat year-round. Hot car deaths have occurred each month of the year. Lock parked cars year-round. Deaths have occurred due to a child entering a parked car. Be on guard even if it's not hot outside. Hot car deaths can occur even when the outside temperature is below 70°F.

ALT Hot and dry conditions are expected Friday through Monday, focused across the desert, lower mountains, and interior valleys. Daytime high temperatures are expected to peak in the 90s to 109 degrees, hottest on Saturday. Hot and very dry conditions will bring elevated fire weather conditions for interior areas, potentially bringing rapid plume dominated fire growth with any new fire starts. Here are some recommended actions. Look before you lock! Check vehicle for children, elderly, or pets. Reduce exposure to heat and hydrate. Take care with possible fire ignition sources such as fireworks and lawn care equipment.
