The £4 standing charge was introduced in July 2025 to make up for historical backbilling and we revert to £2 in January 2026. We also got a last minute demand for all of 2024 before they hit the Ofgem cutoff. Now all that's sorted, they've decided they'd like to keep the £4pd...

This is on top of the 65% rise in service charge from April despite the fact the block hasn't had a working front door since October. It could be to do with the RTM process and the fact they are going to lost the contract by the summer - get while the getting is good I suppose...

I’ll say one thing for this series of #RHOSLC - it’s really renewing my desire to go to Greece (and possibly stay there all winter…)

A newly created Polymarket account invested over $30,000 yesterday in Maduro's exit. The US then took Maduro into custody overnight, and the trader profited $400,000 in less than 24 hours. Insider trading is not only allowed on prediction markets; it's encouraged.
Some war related insider trading? A brand new account in polymarket, only invested in US going to war with Venezuela and Maduro out by January 31. Up 13k so far, was spending thousands on Maduro out at bargain prices as recently as 4 hours ago. Now it’s at .50.

Could we run out of water? “People would be shocked if they knew just how close we’ve come", a former Environment Agency officer told me. To many on this damp little island, the idea’s preposterous. But it’s a very real threat. Here's what I know... watershedinvestigations.com/…

I can only speak to us who have plan 2 student loans, but my marginal tax will be 51% on any earnings above £50k. Makes it really difficult to justify picking up any additional shifts, or not reducing my existing hours. Such a backwards system that disincentivises working hard.
Another bad day for Nick, 30 >Income tax up £658 >Student loan repayment up £239 >Rent up (landlord tax passed on) >Tax on savings up >Non working neighbour gets 7k benefit payout

.@DanNeidle is right and I would add: it's the young grads on ~£50-80k who are disproportionately bearing the brunt of the freeze. A 30 year old earning 50% above median wages would have paid ~£10-11k in taxes and loan repayments in 2020. A 30 year old in 2030 will pay almost double that, a huge rise relative to wage growth.
This is it. The freeze disproportionately hits the highest earning 20%. Doesn’t really touch the top 1%. We’ve accidentally created a unique kind of progressive taxation aimed at those earning about £50k to 150k

So triple-locked pensions and benefits rise with inflation -- but not tax thresholds or student loan repayment levels? That seems weird to me, totally unequal fiscal drag on working people vs recipients of state spending.
This seems to have been ignored - will have a big impact

The more you think about it, the more extraordinary - and disturbing - it is... A group of hackers have singlehandedly caused a fall in UK GDP. Weeks ahead of the Budget. Can anyone think of a parallel in recent economic history? I can't.
👀Just look at the economic impact of the cyberattack and shutdown at Jaguar Land Rover👇 Output from the entire UK motor industry contracted by 28.6% in September, according to the ONS. Save for the pandemic that's the biggest monthly fall on record...
