There are times when the BYU Utah rivalry discourse just legitimately, completely baffles my mind. Tonight has been one such a time.

So honest question. Do some soul searching before answering. If BYU had tried to drive down the field after the goal line stand, and let’s say they had a pass deflected and then intercepted around the UCF 20 yard line (UCF hits game winning FG), Would you be saying this morning “should’ve just ran off some clock and tried to win in overtime.” I think there’s a good chance that would be the overwhelming feeling right now. I’m not saying the decision was right. Frankly, I think the risks would’ve been justified. But all I’m saying is it’s easy to 2nd guess ANYTHING in hindsight

Still can’t believe they called 3 runs with 1:44 left and a field goal wins it 😂 So scared to lose they forgot to try to win. Malpractice. Should’ve been play action on second down. I usually defend A Rod but that was inexcusable.

Initially, I understood BYU’s approach when they got the ball back at the 1 after the goal line stop. I’m thinking “ok, force UCF off their timeouts, then get just enough ground to safely punt them out of FG range” But… the more I think, the more I see that’s WRONG idea at the wrong time. BYU’s coaching staff has a very questionable history about understanding when it’s appropriate to be aggressive (the fake punt against ND. Objectively bad timing.) and when it’s time to be conservative. This staff is top notch at just about everything else!… But is severely lacking in situational awareness.

This has quietly been going on for a few weeks now...
Just one of many examples of BYU getting home with a great play call, but BYU couldn't finish..

The moment BYU's offense finds itself behind the sticks, whether due to a penalty or a TFL, the playcalling and execution become incredibly stiff and stilted. Feels like the culture is very punitive about on-field mistakes. That causes setbacks to compound and lose all rhythm.

Me: "It's not the end of the world. It's just one game. And BYU can still have a magical season and reach the playoffs. But even if they don't, it's just a game. No impact on real life." Also me: xitter.cf/TheMemesArchive/status…

Safe to say the roughing the kicker penalty was a make-up call for when the officials picked up the flag when BYU nearly took the kickers noggin off after the blocked FG. But as always, two wrongs do not make a right 🫤

There’s something oddly familiar about all this

Shoutout to the staff at the Bounce House playing “Don’t Stop Me Now” right after BYU just stopped them now, at the goal line

At this point just let them in the end zone to give your offense some time. Holy hell!

This is the correct starting lineup. DP and Ace learning to jive together in meaningful minutes is more important than Jaren playing his preferred position
New starting five for the @utahjazz tonight: Keyonte George Darryn Peterson Ace Bailey Lauri Markkanen Jaren Jackson Jr. #TakeNote | @kslsports

*deep inhale* Guys, it’s The Beatles. Formulaic music that got hyped into genius status by a perfect storm of timing and savvy media, not actual skill. Expert exploitation of trends already pioneered by others. They’re a marketing phenomenon that got called the greatest because they sold a lot of records to herd-mentality teenagers, not because the music itself was ever the most advanced, demanding, or enduring rock ever made.
THE MOST OVERRATED BAND OF ALL TIME...?
