On Thursday, 7 May, Conservatives regained control of Westminster Council. We’re focused on delivering a stronger, safer, cleaner and better-run City. Thank you to everyone who voted and put their trust in us. We’ll repay that trust with hard work, visibility, and results.
🚌 From Monday 26 October, buses, taxis and cyclists are banned from Oxford Street.
Westminster said no. The Mayor set up his own corporation, and it said yes.
@voteTimBarnes: "It's anti-democratic."

🛣️ Oxford Street is closed to traffic from today. "Fundamentally a lazy attempt at legacy by Sadiq Khan." Cllr Paul Fisher (@PaulEFishr) on Times Radio. #TwoCities #Conservatives #Westminster #London #OxfordStreet

Oxford Street goes traffic-free tonight. We wanted it to be the best it could be. The Mayor's artificial deadline meant it couldn't be, and we would have had a much better scheme next year. Tim Barnes on BBC London. #WestminsterMatters #Westminster #CityThatWorksForAll

Angela Rayner can’t name a single pound of spending that Labour will cut - not one! 🤯
We are £3 trillion in debt, borrowing more just to pay the interest.
Get a grip.
🛣️ Oxford Street is traffic-free from today. "We'd have had a much better scheme if we'd launched it next year." Westminster's Deputy Leader Cllr Tim Barnes on the Mayor's artificial deadline, BBC London. #TwoCities #Conservatives #Westminster #London #OxfordStreet
Thank you to Cllr Elliot Keck and every @PoppyLegion volunteer at Paddington Station. The stand is there every day: take a moment to pick up your poppy on your way to the train. Lest we forget. #TwoCities #PoppyAppeal #LestWeForget
Oxford Street goes traffic-free tomorrow, and Hyde Park residents will feel it.
Our councillor Elliot Keck on the knock-on traffic, the bus cuts, and the £150m the Mayor chose to spend here rather than on policing.

💬 "It is a difficult day, but we're here to meet the challenge of massive government cuts and also making the council leaner and more efficient." Cllr Paul Fisher on BBC London News as Westminster cuts 520 roles. #TwoCities #FairFunding
From Monday 26 October, Oxford Street closes to cars, buses, taxis and bikes between Orchard Street and Great Portland Street. The council still has unanswered questions. #TwoCities #OxfordStreet
🚌 "It feels rushed, under-resourced and slightly undercooked." Westminster's Deputy Leader Cllr Tim Barnes on the Mayor's Oxford Street scheme, BBC London yesterday. Traffic-free from Sunday night. #TwoCities #Conservatives #Westminster #London #OxfordStreet
✅ "I can guarantee that this particular measure will not have an impact on frontline services." Cllr Paul Fisher on BBC Radio London on the 520 roles going at Westminster City Council. #TwoCities #FairFunding
Central London runs on hospitality, retail and small firms, and Labour's tax rises are making it harder for them to hire. Neil Garratt sets out the damage. Londoners need a government and a Mayor on the side of work.
Labour have crashed our economy. @NeilGarratt explains how Labour's oppressive taxes have made employment so hard to find 👇
Labour's own government is cutting Westminster's grant by nearly half. Westminster is one of only seven London councils that give 100% council tax support. Whatever happens, pensioners stay fully protected. Labour councillors should take it up with Labour ministers and Labour MPs
My letter to @WestminsterXtra about Tory plans to cut council tax support for the poorest families in Westminster. Targeting vulnerable people as a cost-cutting exercise is just cruel.
🛡️ Every one of the 520 roles going at Westminster City Council is non-frontline. Cllr Paul Fisher on BBC London News: no impact on frontline services from this announcement, but Labour is cutting the council's funding by 50%. #TwoCities #FairFunding

Simple questions, no straight answers. Londoners deserve a Mayor who answers to the London Assembly, not one who dodges it. Well done @NeilGarratt and @Councillorsuzie for keeping Sadiq Khan on the spot.
Londoners want to see officers on their own streets. Trust in policing is falling and the Mayor still has no plan to turn it round. Visible policing should be his first priority, not an afterthought.
Trust and confidence in the police is declining, @Councillorsuzie points out. Would more visible policing help address this?

If we want law and order back on our streets, we need to back the police.

It’s time for @AndyBurnham to do the right thing, and Axe the Family Farm Tax. 🚜
💷 Westminster sends £8.8bn a year to the Treasury and pays 10% of the country's business rates. Cllr Paul Fisher on BBC Radio London: "All I'm asking is a fair deal for Westminster's residents." #TwoCities #FairFunding
