The fact that some hateful white supremacist from Broome County knew to go to Tops on the East Side to murder as many Black people as possible is further proof of the city's segregation. It's no secret. Racism is deeply and obviously embedded into the fabric of our city.

As someone who grew up in a rural suburb of Buffalo, I don’t want to see any more “this isn’t what Buffalo is about.” The racism was always here, displayed in countless remarks and quiet jokes made at family parties and it was passed down seamlessly to the next generation.
