Five years into journalism, here are some tips and reflections:
1/ Don’t be a d*ck.
Obvious? Yes, but you’d be surprised. Being decent and courteous with everyone you meet can only be a good thing. And people remember.
I said this on my 2023 thread - it remains no.1.

Hearing that a major news agency is struggling to cover some of the key constituencies for counts on July 4th. It’s a reminder that the election is a great opportunity for you to get experience if you’re a student or recent graduate - just approach outlets to see what they need

Yes, a really important story from the family courts, and a tremendous achievement by @Sanchia7 and @CallumJParke in getting it reported.
A judge has agreed it’s in the public interest to report that three children have been abandoned in London by the same parents since 2017.
BBC's @Sanchia7 & journalist @louisetickle tell @BBCNuala more about the story & why they believe reporting from family courts is important.
