Late January and early February is always a tough time for the @NASA community. Within the span of only a few calendar days (in differing years), America’s worst space program tragedies occurred – the Apollo 1 fire in 1967, the Challenger explosion in 1986, and the Columbia disaster in 2003. 17 brave and patriotic astronauts lost their lives across all three incidents. If you ever visit @ArlingtonNatl Cemetery in DC, it is worth seeing the memorials to these fine and dedicated people. To all who perished, you did your duty and you are all still with us – may you all rest in peace.

Leading the Long Beach delegation to these Paris games as Team USA competes on the world stage, has been nothing short of amazing.
Long Beach has incredible athletes and coaches who are bringing glory and gold back home to the Beach.
I look forward to bringing what I’ve learned here in Paris to Long Beach in #LA28! #TeamUSA

Philadelphia Inquirer found dangerous chemicals in the astroturf of the now-demolished Veterans Stadium. Six Phillies who played on that turf, Tug McGraw, Darren Daulton, John Vukovich, John Oates, Ken Brett, David West died of a rare & aggressive brain cancer.
Phillies sold pieces of turf in sealed 4 x 4" bags. The Inquirer purchased four of those on eBay. Samples analyzed by two separate labs found 16 types of dangerous chemicals in the turf. They are referred to as “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down & can last in the human body for years.

Gov. Newsom issued an executive order for the removal of homeless encampments in California.
The order would direct state agencies on how to remove the thousands of tents and makeshift shelters across the state that line freeways, clutter shopping center parking lots and fill city parks. The order makes clear that the decision to remove the encampments remains in the hands of local authorities. abc7.la/4c1rSfh

The Dodgers had a $1 billion offseason.
The Dodgers have some of the most talented players we’ve ever seen.
None of it would’ve felt quite right without bringing back Clayton Kershaw, we’ll see him back on the mound Thursday 🫡

Clayton Kershaw was asked on ESPN if he's seen a ball hit at Dodger Stadium where Shohei Ohtani's home run went:
“No I don’t think so. That was amazing... Some of the righties can hit them out that way but for a lefty to go up there, I’m speechless. I’ve never seen that before.”
