I'd like to see him try teaching a kindergarten class! Actually, on second thought, knowing actions and comments he's made in the past, I doubt he would be able to get a teaching credential.
GOP candidate Brandon Herrera implies Kindergarten teachers wouldn’t make good leaders.

I kind of feel like all of "why won't these idiots accept this one clever trick to fix education" folks should get one season and then have to fuck off forever instead of resurfacing with new terrible ideas every couple years.

“The largest evaluation of an instructional coaching program to date, published this month in the journal @EEPAjournal found no benefits to either teacher retention or student test scores from an intensive, expensive teacher-coaching model used in hundreds of schools.”

Meanwhile, in actual classrooms, we model something explicitly, and then ask students to investigate it. Sometimes before lunch. 😂 I modeled a strategy. Then the kids investigated, discussed, and applied it.

Coming up on 25 years in education and still unable to understand why so many people think making a teacher’s job difficult, unsatisfying, and frustrating equals “empowering” them.

It was disappointing that @60Minutes, with all its resources and expertise, broke zero new ground on the Tina Peters story. The report was just a repetition of what local journalists reported long ago.
“Show me the evidence that the paper ballot results differed from the computerized results,” 60 Minutes’ Bill Whitaker asks Tina Peters, the former Colorado election official who served time for her role in a voting machine breach. “My place is not to show, you know, pick out different things and what-- what could have happened,” Peters says. “I was authorized to protect the election records according to 52USC.70201.” cbsn.ws/3W6ZKFb

If you’re wondering why so many SA survivors don’t report, Amy Acton reported when she was 9-years-old and now it’s being used against her by Vivek Ramaswamy in an attack ad. That’s why.

More people should ask why Karen Vaites has authority over teaching and learning in any school.
Very disappointing to see education folks burning their credibility like this. Notable, too, how many of them were sharply critical of virtual during COVID but now think a AI education is the future.

Two @HoustonISD schools are piloting the Alpha School model this year. HISD Superintendent Mike Miles tells @nytimes that students initially spent longer than expected on the Alpha apps, eating into time that was supposed to be spent on afternoon enrichment.
My deep dive on the "A.I.-driven" Alpha School, revealing their internal learning and enrollment data for the first time, just as the network expands into public education. There is a big gap between the marketing and reality. nytimes.com/2026/10/23/us/al…

No. Sorry. We should be honest. If the country wants more top students to choose teaching as a career, it should pay for them. The only top students I’d ever (mildly) encourage to become teachers are ones from lower-income households for whom teaching will be upward mobility.
If we in the education field want to draw in more high quality (or just any) teachers, it would serve us well to stop complaining all the time. Upon returning from a conference last week multiple of my students said they are questioning their choice of becoming a teacher based on how poorly the keynote spoke of the profession....At a future teacher conference.
