Happy Canadian Library Workers Day! 📚
Today, on Canadian Library Workers Day, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank all of our dedicated library workers across CUPE Local 905.
Every day, you make a difference in the communities you serve. Whether you are helping residents access information, supporting literacy and learning, delivering programs, or creating welcoming and inclusive spaces, the work you do is invaluable.
Libraries are more than just buildings filled with books. They are essential community spaces, and it is the dedicated workers behind the scenes and on the front lines who make them so special.
As President of CUPE Local 905, I am incredibly proud to represent the hardworking library workers who demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and commitment every single day.
Your contributions deserve recognition, respect, and appreciation - not just today, but every day. We will continue to stand together to advocate for the respect, fair wages, and working conditions that library workers deserve. On behalf of the CUPE Local 905 Executive Board, thank you for everything you do!
Happy Canadian Library Workers Day! 📚💜

On September 30, CUPE Local 905 joins people across Canada in recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
This day honours the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors who did, and their families and communities. It is also an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the lasting impacts of the residential school system and the work that remains toward reconciliation.
As trade unionists, we believe in dignity, equality, justice, and standing together against discrimination. Reconciliation requires more than recognition on a single day. It requires listening to Indigenous voices, learning the truth about our shared history, and supporting meaningful action toward a more just future.
On September 30, we encourage our members to take time to learn, reflect, participate in local events where possible, and consider how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in our workplaces and communities.

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.
As Union members, we are committed to the principles of equity, inclusion, respect, and social justice. Indigenous History Month provides an opportunity to learn about the lasting impacts of colonialism, acknowledge the truths of Canada's history, and support the ongoing journey toward Reconciliation.
We encourage all members to take time this month to listen, learn, and reflect on the experiences and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples. By increasing our understanding and challenging inequities, we help build stronger workplaces, stronger unions, and stronger communities.
Together, let us honour Indigenous resilience, celebrate Indigenous achievements, and reaffirm our commitment to reconciliation and justice for all Indigenous peoples.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we recognize and honor the contributions, resilience, and diversity of 2SLGBTQI+ workers in our Workplaces, our Union, and our Communities.
Pride is a time to celebrate progress, but it is also a reminder of the ongoing work required to ensure every worker is treated with dignity, respect, and equality. Unions have long played a vital role in advancing human rights, challenging discrimination, and creating safer, more inclusive workplaces for all.
This month, we stand in solidarity with 2SLGBTQI+ members, and reaffirm our commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice. Together, we continue to build workplaces and communities where everyone can be their authentic selves without fear of discrimination or prejudice.
🏳️🌈 Happy Pride Month 🏳️🌈 to all our members, their families, and our allies. Your union stands with you today and every day.

This week, we join our members & communities in celebrating
🕯Diwali-the Festival of Lights🕯
Diwali is a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, & hope over despair. It’s a reminder that even in challenging times, light shines brightly when we stand together.
To all those celebrating, we wish you & your loved one’s joy, peace, & prosperity.
May this season bring renewal, unity, & strength to our workplaces & communities alike.
📚ONTARIO PUBLIC LIBRARY WEEK 📚
Libraries are more than buildings filled with books - they are community hubs that offer access to knowledge, technology, & support for people of all ages and backgrounds.
& Library workers are at the heart of it all.
Despite the pressures of chronic under funding, staff shortages, & growing community needs, library workers continue to provide exceptional service, creativity & care every single day.
This week, let’s celebrate our libraries & the workers who make them strong.
Because strong libraries mean strong communities!
This coming #LabourDay Monday, lets take a moment to honour the generations of #workers whose struggles & sacrifices built the rights & protections we have today, & celebrate the strength & #solidarity of #working people everywhere.
#HappyLabourDay! ✊

ALT 20 people are in a group, holding up signs and flags in support of CUPE 2073 who are on strike for decent work and wages. The pink CUPE flag with white text is prominent. Some workers are saying FAIR using ASL.

ALT It's raining, but passers-by are still signing the petition. In this photo, a person is adding their name to support CUPE 2073 members. The person sharing the clipboard is wearing a clear rain poncho. Others are under an umbrella. There is a table with a tablecloth that says: JOIN THE MOVEMENT for decent work for all.
