Protecting our communities means catching hazardous materials violations before they happen. This summer, PHMSA Hazmat investigators joined @CVSA and @FMCSA for a major inspection blitz of commercial trucks to find violators of hazardous materials transportation safety regulations and remove them from American roads. Another way PHMSA is working on the front lines to ensure hazmat is transported safely every day.

August 23–29, 2026 is CVSA Brake Safety Week, and inspectors across North America will take a closer look at CMV brake systems — with special attention on brake drums and air disc brake rotors.
Before you roll, check:
➡️ Brake hoses & tubing — chafing, kinks, cracks, leaks
➡️ Pushrod travel & slack adjusters — excessive travel or improper operation
➡️ Brake linings, pads & shoes — excessive wear or damage
➡️ Drums & rotors — cracks, excessive wear or structural damage
➡️ Air system — listen for leaks and verify proper operation
Find it before the inspector does. Fix it before you get on the road.

We stopped this CMV van in @cityburlington today.
The van was noticeably leaning to the drivers side & looked rotted out.
Inspection revealed driver side front coil spring cracked + driver side rear 2 x cracked suspension leaves. Parking brake inop.
