11 years. Itβs been 11 whole years since the day that changed me forever. I clocked into my 7-Eleven shift as an innocent and ripe 19-year-old boy excited to work on Free Slurpee Day. But that wouldnβt last. Blistering 104 degree heat. The AC goes down. The Slurpee machine breaks. Lines are forming. My shift partner goes down with a stomach bug. Iβm single handedly making and serving slurpees to a sweaty and angry mob. After 8 grueling hours, I clocked out of my shift as a hardened and matured man. Iβve never been the same since.
