Friend of the Cabeen lab Lauren Zenewicz lab at @micronies is going on a hiring binge--seeking a postdoctoral fellow, a research assistant and a research tech. Lauren is a superb scientist in a great department and her immuno-micro work is super-fascinating.

Something I love about *doing* science together: when labmates become friends become really good friends become first-time bridesmaids for awesome bride to be Sarah!

Encouraging posters at a grad student research in progress seminar...because that's the kind of supportive environment we have at OSU. #CASCowboys
Now THIS is some useful stuff...
Hey Micro peeps:: Two grad students in my lab, Chantal Guegler and Peter Culviner, developed a super easy DIY kit for rRNA depletion for RNA-seq. Works like the RiboZero kit that @illumina inexplicably stopped selling - ours is as good and way cheaper!

Yes this is an amazing story...a microbiology mystery!
And speaking of Legionnaire's disease, if you have never heard the story of how it was discovered, it's well worth your time. Here's a great podcast on it--actually from an architectural perspective (just believe me, it's good!).
