The VGC meta right now is OK but some of the top mons' designs are starting to feel a little dated. Think of Rillaboom for example, he's just some gorilla that's strong, belongs in Gen 1. Spice him up with traits like being smart, using a bubble shield, and having a tesla cannon

This is 100% a lesson that's best learned early on in VGC, but especially for those who've had strong performances early but then struggled later. At the end of the day you'll only continue to improve if you're enjoying the game because your toughest opponent is you

There is a thin line between competitive spirit and toxicity. Some players are so focused on winning that they are insufferable to play against, we've all met opponents like that at regional. Relax, be kinder, learn empathy. We are just playing a children video game

The part that really blows my mind is back to back regional wins with 12 different Pokemon absolutely historic. Huge congrats to Joe for such legendary runs!

not to wade into the drama, but fwiw, every "teambuilding group" at least started as a group of friends who met at an event (local, regional, etc.), decided they liked each other and had fun talking about Pokemon together. It's really not more complicated than that.
