Excited to share the draft proposal for a preconfirmation system on @berachain that will put us top of category in transaction inclusion latency - over a 10x improvement.
The design leverages Beacon-Kit, our custom consensus client and Bera-Reth, our modular execution client. Owning these components enables an entirely new design space with performance benefits.
TLDR;
- UX unlock for high speed apps
- No additional binaries to run for validators
- Opt-in for reorg sensitive applications
Please review the architecture proposal and drop feedback on the forum post. I'll also be at devconnect to talk tech 👇
I’ve often told people that part of the job in crypto is to turn one half of your brain on super hard and turn the other half off completely. For example this whiteboard session would probably be nonsensical to the most competent systems engineer, but at the same time is pushing the “frontier” of L1 system design.

Over the past 6 Weeks, I’ve been building bera-reth, a Reth SDK execution-client with enshrined proof of liquidity without forking Reth.
10+ PRs contributed to Reth/Revm to support our use case.
Now live on the Berachain Bepolia Testnet. 🧵

what berachain core devs have achieved in less than 3 weeks would have taken 6 months at any other org.
how? a lean, elite team with domain experience, a strong culture, and high ownership.
culture eats strategy for breakfast and we're having a buffet

Here's the human understandable version:
Right now protocols basically throw money at validators hoping they'll allocate BGT emissions to their vaults. But sometimes validators just take the bribe and allocate somewhere else anyway you still paid but got nothing.
This enshrined PoL upgrade (BRIP-0004) flips it completely. Validators now see all the bids first, then decide who gets what based on the best offers. Protocols only pay when they actually receive the emissions they bid for.
It's like fixing a broken restaurant where you tip the waiter upfront but they might just ignore your table anyway. Now the waiter sees all the tips first and serves whoever's offering the most.
Makes the whole BGT marketplace way more efficient and fair. No more paying for emissions you never received. Pretty clean upgrade honestly.
The best part imo is this all happens automatically in every block now no more bots, no gas costs, just pure market efficiency. Cal and the team really cooked with this one
In just a couple weeks bera core team cooked up enshrinement of PoL's critical BGT distribution within the execution layer, via both bera-geth and bera-reth clients. Coming to mainnet very very soon.
🧵 for devs
This tx being enshrined and gas-free is a huge unlock! Bots no longer need to pay to include this tx, BGT distribution is guaranteed to occur every block, and validators can update their reward allocations in real-time. We are moving towards an efficient PoL economy 🫡
This work is heavily inspired by OP's approach to implementing their DepositTx within op-geth! If you're still interested, checkout BRIP-0004 github.com/berachain/BRIPs/p…
The EVM and all the tooling built around it is sacred. Developers need something reliable, trusted, and tested. Rest assured that it will stay that way on @berachain.
In BRIP-1, we discuss forking the execution layer clients used on Berachain. The goal for now is to avoid modifying the "inner" system of the EL, i.e. the EVM. Instead we will make tweaks to the "outer" system of the EL, i.e. things like tx propagation, node mempool configurations and gas fee markets.

BRIP-2 by @rezmah is one of the first proposed changes to the EL, which only tweaks gas fee market parameters to better suit Berachain's fast block times and cheap gas costs.
