🚨 LEAK: Valve will use a skinned-alive Mike Morasky as a reference for the zombies in the next Half-Life game.

Every old device you own, if it's no longer receiving updates, is now about as secure as a Dior bag in a Paris riot.
Update everything, EVERYTHING, and if it can't or won't update, shut it down.
That old dusty Linux box that's been your memes and music archive for fifteen years? Yeah, that too.
This is the kind of vulnerability that you clean out your tech hoard for. Anything that can connect to the Internet but hasn't had updates since Obama was in office? It all must go, fire sale, now now now.
If you have any device in your kitchen that has the word "smart" in it, if your TV hails from a time when OLEDs were novel tech, if your meat thermometer has an app, it's time to have you a real honest think about the security of your home network.
I always knew IoT was a bad idea.

A commission I did back in January of this year for the singer/writer of the death metal band Exalted Sigil of this lil fella on one of their covers. Heavily based on the summoning pose of Doom 2's Archvile.

As the price of DDR5 RAM is expected to rise AGAIN by another 10-15% again, I would like to, for no reason whatsoever bring up a little history in electronics.
Once upon a time, people found out that the RAM Manufacturers were part of a "RAM Cartel".
This "RAM Cartel" throttled supply of RAM and colluded to artificially inflate the prices of RAM to rip people off. They threw excuses like "we can't meet demand" to justify them.
They got caught, and in 2006 they were found guilty, fined and some execs went to prison.
So in the current year, are we seeing another RAM Cartel? Your opinion is as good as mine. My opinion, very likely.

Why did playing the original Quake (1996) over the internet feel like swimming in glue until QuakeWorld arrived?
Because Quake sent your movement inputs to the server and waited for the response before showing your character move. On dial-up, that could mean hundreds of milliseconds of delay.
John Carmack rewrote the netcode so your client could simulate your movement immediately (Client-Side Prediction) and correct it when authoritative updates arrived from the server.
That basic architecture still powers many modern multiplayer shooters, nearly 30 years later.

This game was 96 KILOBYTES big! Nowadays, some games have a 5070 and 32GB of RAM as recommended specs, and need 150GB of your SSD space, and you still need to use DLSS/FSR.
In 2004, a German demoscene group released a game called .kkrieger.
It was a full 3D first-person shooter with dynamic lighting, textures, sound effects, music, and monster AI.
The entire executable was 96 kilobytes. Instead of storing images and audio files, they wrote C++ and Assembly that generated the 3D meshes, textures, and sound waves mathematically in RAM when the game booted.
Today, a single website's "Accept Cookies" banner is 10x larger than that entire 3D game.
