They don't want people to think they got to buy the first two in order to buy the third. Which is a lie, unless the story & characters don't matter.
I think they have regrets. FF7 remake could have been a serious epic, instead of Mai, Chadley, choregraphed dancing & a theme park.

Like watching someone react to a movie on youtube, but it lasts for hours. Games allows the user to approach it differently which means the reaction isn't as predictable as a movie. When they get stuck for hrs at puzzles or in mazes it's great entertainment with this personality:

That it doesn't "hold up" is part of the charm. Doesn't need to see pores, light shining through skin. The definitive FF10, Spirits Within, Advent Children look. Similar to late 90s pixar movies. A render engine that replicates the look but with modern speeds would be nice.😍

-Shaders that calculate light differently
-Dithering
-Limited matching colors
-Crt lines, blur, color bleeding, glow, gamma correction
Makes crappy pixelated blobs look pretty nice, adds a really nice touch to modern games.

Turn based doesn't matter, randomly teleporting the player to a separate battle arena does. That's what supports good narrative pacing and overworld exploration.
Turn based is fine, but it could be dissidia combat or remake combat. Or random Tekken encounters. (pretty awesome)

Image speaks for itself, in short probably 10GB of mods that only make the game look and sound worse.
