Feel this needs to be said. Healthy relationships take work. They are about compromising and balancing the needs of both parties, not just yours!

Some people still don't get it!. Helping a young person regulate again isn't rewarding bad behaviour. It is a fundamental part of our role. Sometimes they just need to be understood, held and loved.🧠🌱

Young people who show challenging behaviour are more likely to have been exposed to trauma. In some cases, challenging behaviour is a symptom of trauma.Trauma informed approaches need to be understood, otherwise it will just focus on the behaviour. The behaviour is the symptom.🧠🌱

I've seen some questions being asked from some individuals about behaviour management/trauma approaches etc.All I can say is that this approach has been extremely beneficial to many pupils under my watch, who could have been written off. They are now on an incredible journey. 🧠🌱

Here's #dissociation in a nutshell: the child-part who was abused and the child-part who never was. Our brain segregates our experience in order to survive the unbearable. Listen to my podcast about #trauma needing a solution at carolynspring.com/podcasts/t… #therapistsconnect #ptsd

Parent/carers of learning disabled children are often made to feel like a failure by so called professionals. Yet, often, it is the so called professionals that are catastrophically failing the child, yet, there never seems to be any consequences for them #gaslighting #SEN – at Boston Spa, England
