50+ people joined us Sunday to celebrate Welcoming Week, a campaign celebrating how communities can be welcoming places for all, including immigrants. Sponsored by New Neighbors & Wright to Read, it allowed families to share experiences & highlight aspects of their identity.
Family Storytime started w/children’s author Hanh Bui reading “Anh’s New Word,” based on her childhood experience of a Vietnamese refugee camp.Then, WTR students recited their “Where I’m From” poems, followed by @AlexandriaVAGov Poet Laureate Zeina Azzam leading a poetry workshop
