Debt without austerity: how the United States cut its debt-to-GDP ratio by 45 percentage points without paying the money back
In 1946 US federal debt stood at 119.1 per cent of GDP. By 1951 it was 73.6 per cent. The government had not paid most of it back. Inflation did the work, by design.

"what should we do about the rise of the far left?"
Another unexpected and excellent article in the legacy media this week. This time it is Eoin O Malley Malley writing for The Sunday Independent (he is also an Associate Professor in politics at the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University) who wonders if everybody has been wrongly focusing on so called "far right" when really it is the far left who are a threat to our society, with their propensity for being violent and encouraging violence in the pursuit of their ideological obsessions. We have put the full article within this post.
He has a go at @pb4p here, and won't be popular with his students after the mid term for that. Perhaps he may even have to deal with what we have had to deal with on a regular basis now for years - unprovoked aggressive physical and verbal attacks from far leftists, along with targeted campaigns of harassment, that most often go unpunished. They view everything through the lens of oppressor versus oppressed, and apparently having an opposing view to them makes you "the oppressor", hence they feel they have a right to unleash hell upon you. We hope @AnMailleach will not have to deal with these so called "anti fascists" (they are of course the real fascists), yet that is the reality of what you have to put up with when these ideologues feel entitled to target you.
The far left have really let their mask slip and others are FINALLY starting to see how dangerous they actually are, and how they've marched through our institutions, capturing them along the path. A lot of damage has been done by now - but we welcome the change of tone, even if it is as the clock strikes thirteen...
"After alarmism over far right, has France shown we’re looking in wrong direction?"
Every month, the Sunday Independent asks a sample of Irish people to choose the issues that most concern them. Top come cost of living, housing and immigration.
At the bottom are usually social media, the Trump administration, Gaza and the rise of the far right. Though the polls show few people regard these as very important, the State spends an inordinate amount of time and energy on them.
The rise of the far right was the reason the previous justice minister, Helen McEntee, wanted to introduce hate-speech legislation. When asked what the far right was, she couldn’t define it, but she saw it was people who might question migration policy and be "anti-government".
I was in the US last week, having been asked to speak about the rise of the far right in Ireland. As many cities in France burned because of protests encouraged by far-left leaders, I asked whether concerns were misplaced.
Should we not be asking what to do about the rise of the far left?
The protests in France emerged from concerns over school funding and probably a sense that career progression has been upended.
In the rioting and looting that followed, far-left leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon praised “white and ugly”. We also see intellectuals such as Nobel prize winner Annie Ernaux defending the protests on the basis that they are standing up to “austerity”, ignoring the galactic cost of the French state. They stood up to austerity by looting luxury shops. Louis Vuitton for all?
While some of that rioting and looting might have been opportunistic and recreational, one might have said the same about the Dublin riots two years ago. Yet those riots sparked reams of statements from politicians concerned about the rise of the far right.
We see no such hand-wringing for events in France. In fact, People Before Profit has celebrated what it terms the “youth revolt”. The Denakryte party has a meeting next Thursday where it will bring together people to “build a movement here capable of confronting capitalism”. PBP wants to bring protests “from the streets of Paris to the streets of Dublin”.
Were it not for the haplessness of PBP’s leadership, one might think that the State should do something about this. It is hardly overstating the case to say that the threat to France is existential. We absolutely do not want what we’ve seen on the streets of Paris brought to the streets of Dublin.
*The danger of the far left is not confined to France.* Last week in Spain, the ethno-nationalist party Vox had its opening event in the Spanish election disrupted by masked anti-fascist protesters. Riot police were needed to allow the meeting go ahead.
Anti-fascism looks an awful lot like fascism when they try to prevent those they disagree with from holding electoral events. The dangers of the far left are not confined to its violent attempts to upend the economy and democracy. It is also a threat to normal social relations.
Take the Government-funded ad telling us that grandparents should think twice before hugging their grandchildren: one of these occasional flare-ups where ordinary people get to see the capture of the State by ideologues who have no sense of Irish people or their values.
There is now, it seems, nothing that the far left feel the State should not regulate, including normal family relationships.
We might dismiss this as a thoughtless and zany group pushing an agenda. But it is far from thoughtless. It is planned. The aim is to transform social relations, including how we think and speak.
*Another example was the "Family A versus Family B" case study that was being taught* to our Junior Cert students through a SPHE curriculum that is pure ideology.
It characterised a traditional red-headed family wearing Aran jumpers, who eat bacon and cabbage, play GAA and holiday in Ireland, as inferior to the “diverse” mixed-race “blended” family who holiday in Europe and eat exotic foods.
As with the ads permission for a bus ad, that particular exercise was withdrawn because its absurdity was widely seen. But the ideological capture of the State continues through the state funding of NGOs."

We now see the full extent of preplanning and empire-building that went into the United Nations' global warming campaign.
It was all behind the scenes. Today, the UN has a workforce of roughly 190,000 and an annual budget of $3.45 billion. It has become a vast self-managing, self perpetuating bureaucracy - arguably the largest non-governmental network in the world. The UN had been laying the groundwork for an environmental crisis for decades before it was finally announced in 1988.
The UN took control of the World Meteorological Organization in 1951, transforming it into a specialised UN agency. The WMO operates with an annual budget of approximately $138.7 million and has a staff of 350 to 400.
The WMO bridges the gap between raw meteorological data, international political agendas and global news media - linking thousands of land stations, ocean buoys, aircraft and satellites. While its stated role is to share critical weather and water data, this massive infrastructure has been effectively co-opted into a public relations framework.
Consequently, the world has been bombarded with weather hysteria for almost 40 years. Mainstream news outlets routinely prioritise speculative, worst-case climate models over empirical observations - like 'rain bombs' - maintaining a permanent state of crisis designed to shape public compliance.
The information gathering agency, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, runs the scientific arm. It operates with a core secretariat of just 15 staff members and an annual budget of roughly $12.5 million. The IPCC was established 38 years ago, ostensibly as a neutral body to gather objective scientific information on climate.
In reality, the IPCC became the driving force behind the greatest environmental and social upheaval in modern history. Highly politicised from its inception, it was founded entirely by UN agencies - the WMO and the UN Environment Programme. This gave the UN absolute control over the global climate agenda and funded what has become the largest propaganda campaign in history.
The UN has also run annual fund raising COP summits around the world for 30 years. They have become junkets for the rich and privileged.
The IPCC did not recruit independent scientific staff; instead, its administrative apparatus actively sponsors and selects studies that supported the carbon dioxide hypothesis. Research raising questions or doubts are minimised or discarded. Critics find their studies starved of funding and publishers, while some even faced threats to their academic tenures.
Local weather outlets and national agencies now operate inside an ecosystem heavily influenced by these overarching, high-alarm targets, broadcasting continuous warnings of 'global boiling', catastrophic sea-level rise, and 'Code Red for Humanity' - with UN leadership acting as the chief amplifier. This environment birthed foundational, highly charged studies designed to lock in future warming projections.
For decades, the UN promoted only extreme scenarios. A prime example is the IPCC's reliance on high-end warming trajectories - such as projections warning of up to a 5.5-degree temperature rise - predictions so extreme that even mainstream scientists have increasingly conceded they are implausible.
Armed with a crisis of its own making, the UN called for the rapid dismantling of hydrocarbon fuels - coal, oil, and natural gas - the very energy sources that lifted humanity out of stagnation and powered the Industrial Revolution. Almost every aspect of modern civilisation, from transport networks to industrial manufacturing, relies entirely on these dense, inexpensive and reliable energy sources.
Climate management bears no relation to the UN’s foundational charter of resolving international conflict; it's a textbook case of bureaucratic mission creep.
The sheer complexity of this UN machinery, combined with an aura of technical authority, is precisely what insulates it from public scrutiny.
This absolute non story bag of shite article concludes with:

The numbers are so large by now they’ve become meaningless.
Over the past year, the US national debt grew by roughly $2.39 trillion, which breaks down to an average of $6.55 billion every single day.
The European Union (27) debt increases by $2.6 billion every day.
We're at the part of the Ponzi scheme where the guy running it starts sweating.
The US has $40 trillion in debt. It grows by $6 billion per day—not per year, per day. The US added $1 trillion in debt in just 71 days last year.
Here's the problem: The US paid $1.2 trillion in interest on that debt in 2025. That's more than defense spending.
So how do you fix it?
1) Raise taxes? The wealthy leave (see: Britain)
2) Cut spending? Political suicide
3) Default? Game over
There's only one path:
Print Money.
Devalue the debt by making dollars worth less.
Ray Dalio: “If you devalue money, you devalue debt.”
Translation: Your savings, salary, and retirement get quietly confiscated to pay for government debt.

The Irish medical council ARE STILL persecuting doctors for having independent opinions during the great coviscam.
Even after we all saw “the science” claim the fifth with Fauci.
Dr Pat Morrisey will appear before the Medical Council in Stilorgan on Tuesday 27th October. He faces charges for his public criticism of Covid Vaccines and for attempting to protect people from these terrible, cancer- causing injections. These toxic products that even RFK himself cannot remove from the shelves -so powerful are the sinister forces working behind the charade of politics.
Dr Morrisey stands against the power of a Pharmaceutical Industry that is in complete control of our public health policy and health guidelines, all blindly followed in the name of profit, regardless of the human cost.
In many respects both at home and abroad - healtchcare has become a dangerous disease. Many Doctors are aware of this truth, but only the smallest few have had the courage to speak out, and face the inevitable consequence.
Dr Morrisey's hearing will be held at the Talbot Hotel Stilorgan at 10am. I will be there along with several of our colleagues.
We are but few, yet we proudly stand beside a Doctor who has more integrity and more honesty in his heart, than the remainder of our Profession combined.
Please do come along to this utterly disgraceful Inquisition. It is open to the Public and I look forward to seeing you there.
Love and truth will win in the end.

Irish Military planners are preparing to recommend the purchase of more than 550 armoured vehicles from France.
Enough to equip a brigade of 4,000 troops.
The purchases would include:
Griffon troop carriers,
Serval armoured vehicles &
Jaguar combats with turret-cannons.
This would be a major expansion of the Irish Army’s capabilities, including “limited conventional war fighting.”
The stated purposes include defending Ireland, protecting peacekeepers in dangerous environments and participating in:
“EU expeditionary operations”
Retired Defence Forces weapons specialist Alan Kearney describes the purchase price as:
“a drop in the ocean”…compared with the full lifetime cost.

If an average European minimum-wage worker spent their entire annual 2005 income exclusively on gold, they’d have bought only 19.66 troy ounces.
In 2015, the same worker could only have bought 9.15 troy ounces.
In 2025 only 5.06 troy ounces.
This is why banks buy gold.
This might be the wildest minimum wage statistic I've ever seen.
In 1971, the federal minimum wage was $1.60 per hour. Gold averaged $40.92 per ounce.
It took 26 hours of minimum-wage labor to earn an ounce of gold.
In 2025, the federal minimum wage was $7.25. Gold averaged $3,432 per ounce.
It took 473 hours of labor to earn that same ounce.
Your hourly wage increased 4.5× in dollars.
The amount of labor required to acquire gold increased 18.5×.
Measured in gold, the federal minimum wage lost approximately 95% of its value.
Fifty-four years of nominal wage increases, and one hour of work buys a fraction of the monetary asset it once did.
