I keep praying, Cap’n Rohowits. I pray for California, Oregon, and Washington. Something has to give. We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, yet we’re held back by the negligence, fraud, and grift of our state governments.

Therein lies the real issue: the fraud. California taxpayers have been bled dry by it for years—billions poured into a high-speed rail system that still doesn’t exist, runaway welfare costs, election results that never seem to add up, and on ad infinitum. Until the cheating is actually stopped, “hope” doesn’t mean much.

Yes exactly. The cell phone has changed a lot of that I’m afraid. Remember when Kobe died in that helicopter accident, and the deputies taking photos? I remember thinking to myself my how times have changed. Back in the day we would have never even thought of that.

How is this fair to those who came here legally and invested time and money to do it? Used to work with several people who came her legally who got very angry whenever someone suggested that someone here illegally should get to cut ahead of them in line.

Have you seen the movie "Coach Carter"? There's a scene that captures the sentiment about this topic. But the quote that gets it for me is, "Since when is winning not enough? Playing hard... not enough?.... You can't show some class? Act like a champion?" Champions are deemed the best because they win it all. Just win baby.

In California you get a voter registration form included with all government benefits. So you sign up for free health care, a registration form comes with it, you do it online, registration pops up. It’s designed to make people think they are supposed to sign it. California just wants the numbers, they decide where the votes go.

A few thousand of you have joined me since I first told this story, so here’s where it all started. Summer 1986. Lifeguard job. Sunday airshow. Book about flying. Top Gun on Wednesday. By the end of the week, I’d decided I was going to be a fighter pilot. The recruiter wasn’t impressed. Zero flight hours. That decision took me from the cockpit of an F-15 to the flight deck of a 777 — and into a life I couldn’t have imagined. Funny how an ordinary week can change everything.
