This rate was 0.1 percentage point greater than the region's year ago rate of 4.0 percent. The region's September 2026 unemployment rate was 0.1 percentage point lower than the state rate of 4.2 percent. The labor force was 1,074,400, down 6,309 (- 0.6 percent) over the year. There were 44,170 unemployed residents in the region.
