๐จHuge Baseball Commit Alert! ๐จ
Ryan Sheffer, the younger brother of catcher Carson, will be headed to Stillwater. Ryan is ranked as the #4 player in California in the 2028 class by PBR.
Ryan is a SS/left side infielder who checks in at 6'1. Like his brother, he's lean but strong and very athletic, with a lot of room to grow inside his frame.
He gets what I call a great "buggy-whip" in his swing because he turns the barrel with authority, does a great job keeping a tall back side, and has a really nice path to the ball. But the way he turns the barrel through impact steals the show for me. He creates a lot of forward momentum while staying very balanced, so as he gets stronger, he's gonna be able to really impact the baseball.
He also has soft hands, great instincts, and a ++ arm that will likely only get better at the college level as he grows in strength. #GoPokes #OkState

COMMIT: Oklahoma State has its shortstop of the future. Oaks Christian (Ca.) bluechip Ryan Sheffer is a Cowboy. Excellent bat-to-ball skills and a decorated defensive profile are easy traits to project on.
No. 26 HS prospect in 2028 class.

Source: Campbell Smithwick will return to #OkState for his senior season in 2027.
Smithwick, a transfer from Ole Miss last offseason, slashed .275/.422/.500 with a .922 OPS, 10 home runs, 43 RBI and a 119 wRC+ mark as a junior in 2026.
The Cowboys are set to have a talented catching duo in Smithwick and incoming freshman Carson Sheffer.

A few takeaways from this:
> Francisco was a serviceable backup, but itโs not the end of the world for #OkState. Options via the transfer portal and junior college exist.
> There is a real possibility Smithwick forgoes the MLB Draft and returns to Stillwater for his senior season. Only time will tell on that front.
> Pending the draft, OSU will have Carson Sheffer, a Perfect Game top-300 recruit, on its roster next season. Have been thoroughly impressed with what I have seen and heard regarding Shefferโs skill set.
#OkState catcher Brady Francisco has entered the transfer portal, I am told.
Francisco, who transferred to OSU from Yavapai Junior College last offseason, served as the backup to Campbell Smithwick.
Francisco slashed .241/.333/.678 with two RBI and one home run (29 AB), and a 70 wRC+ mark.
He becomes the fifth OSU prospect to enter the transfer portal this offseason.

#OkieState signee had a strong day at the plate. Went backside on a slider for a 1B then was on time on a FB for a deep solo HR (110 mph/443 ft). The hit tool continues to improve while the C/T continues to be top of class.
