Last week, a group of activists disabled the OMNY readers at the BQ Church Avenue station in Brooklyn with an automatic center punch and drill. They opened the gate so people can ride for free, and painted the cameras to protect themselves and fellow riders from surveillance.
This was deliberate act of protest against unaffordable transit, hyper-surveillance in predominantly Black and brown neighborhoods, and the MTA's collaboration with the military industrial complex.
YOU ARE BEING WATCHED. OMNY records when and where you travel, your photograph, name, DOB, billing address, and other personal details. This invasive tech creates a profile to track your life and travel patterns. OMNY’s privacy policy places no limits on the data it collects about you.
EVERY TAP FUNDS A WAR PROFITEER. OMNY is operated by Cubic, a military equipment company making combat simulators. They sell the F-35 fighter jet training system to imperialist zionist entities like israel. The F-35 is a key weapon in israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and all of the US's imperialist wars, responsible for massacring millions of people.
FIGHT BACK. The MTA and Cubic don't deserve your hard earned cash. Take action, smash a reader, jump the turnstile, hold the gate for others. If you must pay, use cash for OMNY cards, and tap yourself and fellow riders in. This makes you all less traceable. Cover your face and identifying features. Always check for police before evading the fare. Remember, contracted security guards have no authority to stop or detain passengers.
RIDE FREE, FUCK THE NYPD, AND FREE PALESTINE!
Everyday I feel blessed to live in a real city
LA is HOT. But does it have to be this hot?
Did you know shade from a single tree can drop temps by 20° or more? Yet working-class neighborhoods like South LA, East LA, and the Valley get the least tree coverage and bear the brunt of extreme heat. Let's change that and finally cool things down for everyone.
There seems to be a correlation between economic power and development and being non white

Why is my diaspora so evil
Abdul El-Sayed can never, ever be a U.S. Senator.
Take it from Iman, whose family fled from oppression in Iran to find freedom. He and his family deserve better than someone connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda. They deserve someone who stands up to the IRGC, not someone who defends it.
Michigan deserves better.

#Breaking: #Ethiopia declares #Egyptian diplomat persona non grata, orders him to leave within 48 hours
Addis Abeba — Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared an Egyptian diplomatic staff member, Ahmed Moharam Ahmed Soliman, persona non grata and ordered him to leave the country within 48 hours.
In a diplomatic note dated 1 October 2026 and addressed to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Addis Ababa, the ministry said the decision was taken in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
“The Ministry hereby notifies the Embassy that Ahmed Moharam Ahmed Soliman has been declared persona non grata,” the letter states.
It adds that the ministry “expects the Embassy’s diplomatic staff member to leave Ethiopia within Forty-Eight (48) hours from the date of this notification.”
The letter does not state Soliman’s diplomatic title or role at the Egyptian Embassy. It also does not provide a reason for the persona non grata designation or identify any alleged conduct underlying the decision.
The diplomatic note was formally addressed to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Addis Ababa and signed and stamped by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
