If you mean Nico Rosberg with the second example, it’s partially true . Nico achieved his dream of becoming a champion , yes it took everything out of him , but his main goal was to be a champion , and after achieving it he retired. Lewis wasn’t the only factor in his retirement.

All of Hamilton old teammates went crazy because they wanted to beat him, and they literally did everything. One of them even cheated. Another one retired after he wins against him because it took everything out of him he was not able to fight with Lewis one more year (he win that year because Lewis suffered all the engine problems) And another one tried everything, but he eventually realized that he couldn't do anything to beat Lewis, and he simply accepted it.
