It's really mind blowing to see @Uniswap's release of UniswapX @EthCC. After discussing with @xin__wan @haydenzadams, it's sort of the end game as a decentralized protocol for finding liquidity across chains/rollups. From the whitepaper, you can find a lot of interesting ideas and details below. UniswapX uses offchain signed orders instead of onchain transactions. Traders approve Permit2 for authorization to trade via signatures. This enables gas-free trading. Orders are Dutch auctions, starting above market price and decaying over time down to the trader's limit. This captures MEV as price improvement returned to the trader. Fillers pick up orders and execute them before the price decays, routing across onchain DEXs, offchain sources, and other UniswapX orders. Fillers are incentivized to fill orders ASAP to front-run the decay. This creates a competitive marketplace minimizing excess MEV extraction. UniswapX also supports cross-chain trading via message passing oracles like bridges. Traders can seamlessly exit L2s to L1 with fast finality. An optimistic protocol further reduces cross-chain settlement delays. Fillers post bonds, challenges can slash dishonest fills. UniswapX combines concepts from @0xProject , @CoWSwap , @dYdX , Seaport, DutchX, Optics and more into a novel architecture. Fees are configurable per pair up to 0.05% by governance. Frontend platforms can charge additional uncapped fees. By aggregating liquidity sources, UniswapX ensures best execution for traders. The Dutch auction captures MEV and returns it as price improvement. Cross-chain support provides fast, simple asset transfers across chains. Traders don't need to manage gas tokens or bridge delays. UniswapX maintains non-custodial security - traders don't give up custody until execution, avoiding failed transaction fees. The permissionless filler model outsourced order routing and execution while still enabling open participation.
