In Gaza, donkeys aren’t just animals, they are lifelines. They carry food, water, people, and even patients when vehicles cannot pass.
Earlier this year, an airstrike destroyed the small shelter and supplies of Safe Haven for Donkeys. For many, that might have been the end. But for Dr. Saif Alden and his team, it was only the beginning.
With nothing more than salvaged materials and sheer determination, they rebuilt a mobile clinic and pressed on treating injured and exhausted donkeys in the middle of the conflict. To date, they have cared for over 7,000 animals, each one vital to the survival of the families who depend on them.
This is what animal welfare looks like in the hardest of places: dangerous, relentless and powered by people that refuses to give up.

We are so grateful to the DATCP inspectors for taking these photos because we have no other way to see inside this horrible facility, Photos show piles of feces that haven’t been removed. Two beagle mothers with open sores and look of distress in their eyes.
Join us at the Dane County Courthouse on October 23rd, 2024, 9am. Dress nicely and do not bring any signs; they will not be allowed in the courthouse. Brace yourself to hear about dogs kept in awful conditions for their entire lives; the testimony and evidence will be unpleasant but it's necessary to get those dogs OUT of that hellhole. They need us to be strong and speak out on their behalf, so we will see you there!
