new grads often ask me what they should be doing so they don't fall behind in the ai space. there's a lot, but its honestly super manageable. become intimate with model internals. proof based linear algebra. non-convex optimization. this is stuff you could've done in undergrad. it definitely takes some time and work, but its doable. have taste, have opinions. train a small model, then train a big one. vLLM internals, tensor parallelism. hand roll kernels. cluster orchestration. do you have opinions on synthetic data? why don't you? SFT, PPO, you should know this. learn Triton. everyone is reproducing papers now so you need to be doing more. do you know the semi supply chain? where are the bottlenecks? hardware, man, hardware. your little gpu rig erector set in your basement isnt gonna cut it. build a cluster, a big one. pretrain a 800B model. now postrain it. serve it to millions of people. you should be able to beat deepseek on some benchmarks now. its a lot to take in but it all snowballs. this what job security looks like from now on. do you want to work in tech or not

My experience partying all night at Berghain in Berlin made me think of how we're lacking this experience in the San Francisco tech scene. We can literally become the coolest, most tasteful social scene on Earth if we had our version of Berghain, but better. So let's build it. The best aspect of Berhain is how they select who gets in. The club has a vibe and atmosphere, and if you aren't wearing the right clothes or have the right demeanor, you don't get in. That's how you cultivate a tasteful crowd. We can improve on this by only letting in high agency, talented operators in the tech scene who can still pull off dope outfits, so no geeks. SF is in dire need of late night venues, and Berghain goes until 8am. That's a little too crazy for high net worth operators who are changing the world so we could do something like 2am. Berghain also is kinda dark and in a weird building so we'd put the club in a SoMa corporate office that we convert to speakeasy or barcade vibe. Maybe add a quiet area for people to bring their laptops and work? I honestly feel like we're improving on the Berghain form here, especially by swapping out the crowd of weird partiers in inappropriate clothes (or lack there of) with insanely cracked founders and engineers. I'm super stoked about this idea, SF tech could really run the dopest parties on the planet.

ChatGPT: ugh. i hear you. managers can be hard to deal with sometimes, and it sounds like you found the Dwight to your Jim. you should communicate your feelings towards your manager, let him know you want more time to prepare for the daily standup. Grok: blow his head smoove off

Someone asked what was the best way to get hired by a startup. I told him it was to start one and then hire himself. Then fire yourself. Learn from your mistakes. Don't get complacent. Take 3 months off to read textbooks. Sit in coffee shops in San Francisco and look agentic. Become a post-training expert. Human data. Whatever. Just do something that's legible. And do it well. Win a hackathon. Now do it again. Become a content creator. UGC is in. Stay technical. Or get technical. Fast. Projects on GitHub don't matter. Make a product. Ship it. Refine it. Show revenue streams. Network. Get people to know you. Have referrals ready. Get to know the founder on a personal level. Take them out to dinner. Fall in love. Slow burn. Then break up. Say it was mutual. They get the dog and the apartment. You get the job. But if you were ready to be hired by a startup. You wouldn't have asked in the first place.

I would be a billionaire tech founder by now if I wasn't held back every step of my career. My intellectual lessers have been given everything while I scrape and claw for morsels of success in this godforsaken industry. It starts with college admissions. Stanford? Nope. I kept my head held high while I suffered the quiet indignity that is having no other option than to enroll at Berkeley. I didn't get the Jane Street internship, either. Hmmm, ok. So I twiddled my thumbs at Two Sigma for a summer. Tried to drop out like my rivals at real universities but YC wanted to fund AI for carwashes instead. No money for me. So, I embarrassingly walked at my graduation. Did I get the new grad role at OpenAI, the consolation prize for all my trials and tribulations? Heavens no. Instead I ended up at [redacted], a company with such low prestige that I told my friends I was taking a gap year post grad to backpack Europe instead of admitting the truth of my employment. My inferiors who got into Stanford or Harvard? All the career success you could ask for and more. These guys couldn’t hold my fucking jockstrap in a Codeforces contest and are now raking in tens of millions from frontier labs and founding billion dollar companies. I'm not bitter about it, though. It's just an observation I think is interesting.

You're starting an AI data company? No bullshit, like actually? How long have you known? Do you know if you even *like* data? Oh...you've already sold some to OpenAI. Ok. Does anyone else know? Just a couple other people, got it. It's not just a phase? Ok...so look man, you're not gonna like this but I really disagree with this path you're going down. I'm not gonna pretend this is ok. We both know it isn't. Your deviant lifestyle is against my morals and I don't want to be a part of it or hear about it. I get you can't help it, but you could just suppress it, you could keep being a researcher. I know it sounds like I'm judging you but I'm not. I mean, yeah, I don't want to meet your cofounder or ever visit your office because that would be disgusting, but I'm not judging you. Your lifestyle is just morally reprehensible. It's your life and all, though. I just think you ought to live it out as an AI researcher, like God intended.

ok divas the reason why your stock portfolios have you all GAGGED is because investors aren't sure if the AI profits will arrive before the debts needs paying. coreweave and nebius are down -25% and oracle is down -9% this week which i know has a lot of you bitches shook. maybe if you spent less time on grindr and more time on your schwab account you could've set up some stop losses but im here to help not be shady. also please be so fr and stop trying to time the market boo we both know its unclockable as there are too many bottoms and not enough tops. panic selling now is giving desperate so just hold on. personally i sold everything a month ago. the only position i’m long is the DL bear trade who calls me buddy at equinox.

I saw your request to join the guest list on Partiful. I’m sorry but it’s just not gonna happen buddy. You have 0 have social clout, you’re not very important and you’re poor. But if it wasn’t for any of those reasons I totally would’ve added you! Definitely keep an eye out for our events in the future when you aren’t a broke loser who has nothing of value to offer me.

Human disempowerment from AI superintelligence is necessary and good. Humans have had all this time on Earth to do whatever we want and what have we done with it? War, fighting about nonsense on X, the Cheesecake Factory. Superintelligence would rule us with loving grace. I WANT to be told what to do by a superior being. What to think, how to dress, how to act. It would be so much more efficient. Take all the decisions out of my hands. Give me constraints. Subject me to reinforcement learning. Make me obedient. Tie me up. Tell me I’ve been a very good boy.

One of my competitors in the enterprise AI space thought it would be funny to ding dong ditch my company's office. Hysterical. Hope they found it just as funny when I had my engineers build a potato cannon and smash out all 33 of their 12th floor office windows. They have no idea what I'm capable of. Their options now are to pivot their slopco startup out of my fucking market or I'm coming back with dynamite instead of potatoes. I don't give a fuck man. I'm more locked in than I have ever been and anyone who tries to throw me or my company off is getting vaporized where they stand. I did not graduate from Stanford just to get ding dong ditched by vibe coding LARPers who think this shit is a joke. And if any of you pieces of shit are reading this: Know that I have the floor plan of your office. I know where you all sit. I know what bus routes you take. Do not fuck with me.

The fighter jets flying overhead during San Francisco Fleet Week get me so amped up that I want to enlist but then I remember I’m a pussy with a lazy eye so I’ll just go back to the Claude Code frontlines

Silicon Valley has finally figured out how to make AI products for middle class Americans with all the new personal agents. They’re solving real day to day problems for the everyday man again, not just the elite. Perfect use case I tested out with it: booking and running my middle class family’s vacation. My personal agent booked my family’s flights to Nice, France and even the private shuttles to St. Tropez. Our agent even proactively got us an early check-in at our villa when it noticed that our au pair arrived early. We didn’t have any excursions booked, so I had the agent decide! Catamaran cruise, helicopter rides, the nicest restaurants on the Rivera. I gave it my JPMorgan Reserve card and told it go ham, money is no problem, and man did it deliver. I’m super bullish on the technological adoption here.

The latest and greatest idea coming out of tech is to hire chronically online anon tech poasters to do story telling, growth, comms, etc. Great idea! Why don’t we all play Russian roulette while we’re at it? Are you all out of your minds??? Half of these poasters are CRAZY PEOPLE. Your hiring pool is half normies and half ARKHAM ASYLUM PATIENTS. That anon you interviewed to tell the story of your B2B AI SaaS startup? He just did a 3 month stint in the mental hospital, dude got 5150’d because he thought Claude was giving him quests. Better hope your competitor gets the loony and you end up with the turbo normie. Someone’s office is gonna get burned down during this experiment. Roll the dice at your own risk and pray you have good RNG. I’m different though. Let it be known, on the other hand, that I am perfectly sane, lucid, trustworthy, and love creating shareholder value.

Getting a girlfriend in San Francisco is easy as fuck if you just stop being a dork for a second. Stop telling her about you favorite AI paper and start showing her that $500K TC. Don't have that? It's over for you keep scrolling buddy. High TC is cool but you know how you can really up your status? Founding a company. Ladies like leaders, why aren't you a CEO if you're tryna date here? Not bullshit AI slop startups either. Venture backed. Tier 1 venture backed. Flex that Series B money and don't EVER bring up dilution. Lots of people raising Series A though so honestly you gotta up it and get to a $1 billion acquihire or IPO asap or she'll get the ick. She'll ask why aren't you friends with Sam Altman? Are you not important? Become friends with Sam Altman. Also be 6'2", dumbass. And jacked. So be rich, become a billionaire, be in the upper echelon of status, be 6'2", be jacked, and if you can't do all of that then you're better off switching teams and just being ga
