"Now, splendidly, everything had become clear. The enemy at last was plain in view, huge and hateful, all disguise cast off. It was the Modern Age in arms."
After this week I feel like Evelyn Waugh at the time of the Nazi-Soviet Pact in 1939. The politics of 'progress' has found its fulfilment in the union of two total malignancies: the campaigns to abort babies at full term and to kill old people before their time. Here is our enemy, all disguise cast off. 1/7

The patient I describe in this clip challenged my thinking around assisted dying / suicide.
It worries me that the TIA Bill’s supporters are only thinking about people for whom this law would offer a true ‘choice’ (as illustrated, imo, here xitter.cf/cnkalliance/status/189… )
This one story about a patient who was treated by @kesleeman & team is a whole world away from the celebrity advocacy pushed onto our TV screens or @BBCr4today
He wasn’t wealthy or famous; no journalists invited him onto their sofas.
But his life mattered

Very good article.
Before the Second Reading I was not opposed to AD in principle but had concerns about the practice.
But I’ve been radicalised by the shocking way the Bill is being slammed thru Parliament. We must not allow ideology to trump safety.

Great to see community intervention trial on frailty to optimise function @competitivgrace @InspireRehabEU
An excellent example of a trial with a social care intervention for people at risk of #frailty living at home. Prof Kate Walters @UCL lead. @HILS_UK led the intervention in Herts.

This week the assisted dying Bill committee heard from SIX pro-assisted dying Australians about how well it’s all going there.
The former Attorney General of Victoria disagrees.
If the aim is safety, surely he must be invited to give evidence?
