Chris and I have been playing Magic together for over 15 years. We started at the kitchen table when he qas 5 and now he is 20 and on the Pro Tour. Magic is our hobby and part of our identity. He learned to read, count, and interact with people with Magic. Thread with memories🧵

The lack of value in MTG tournies is so jarring. I dont want MTG to become a cash grab lottery sign up game like One Piece but RCQ winners, RC top 32, and PT appearances should at least pay for your travels. Jace Beleren? Why not Jace, Theorist? Keep the promo discourse going.

If you Top 8 a Magic RCQ today, you win the card on the left, which vendors buy for €1. If you Top 8 a Flesh and Blood ProQuest, you win the card on the right, which vendors buy for €35. One is a fringe playable rare. The other is a mythic played in multiple Tier 1 decks. Magic players don’t deserve this.

And to continue, Magic does support Organized Play at the highest level, and that’s great! But when it comes to the local store level, it’s doing so much worse than its competitors. Wotc needs to figure out how to get people back into stores and playing tournaments again. And they need to do it ASAP!

This card is boring and leads to boring games where every single subsequent turn becomes all about this card. Every play pattern involving this card is the same. And I find every play pattern involving this card to be completely uninspired.

Swiss Data for #SpotlightFRA . Sorry it took a little while to see the decks. Dimir Midrange and UW Artifacts look VERY good! Landfall still looks strong! @fireshoes for sharing love!

Riftbound is eating magic's lunch right now when it comes to support for the competitive scene. Maybe wizards can put some of that 46% OPERATING MARGIN they flaunted at the Q3 earnings call to use in making high-level competitive play more attractive to more players.

Houston has 7 RCQs this weekend. Some times we have none. 🤷‍♂️ In addition to those, there's a BCDL Saturday and I'm considering attending. Does anyone have a good casual/fun humans based or adjacent legacy list? @BcdLegacy

Haven’t thought about dipping my toes back into competitive MTG scene since covid, but my son wanted to Q for the RC in St. Louis. We both almost got there. He finished third and I ended up taking the event down. Wish it could have been a father / son 1,2 finish. Maybe next time
