The @CdnCoalition_ welcomes a number of measures in the federal government's Spring Economic Update, which aims to position the Canadian economy to be more resilient in the face of geopolitical uncertainty and global trade disruption. The Coalition supports that intent — but warns that, in the current environment, announcements must be swiftly followed by execution. The findings of the @CdnCoalition_ Scorecard Report are a stark wake-up call for Canada. 🇨🇦 As we reflect on 2025—a year defined by geopolitical rupture and domestic economic strain—the message is clear: It is time to execute. The fragility of our economic growth is no longer a theoretical concern; it is a reality felt by households at the grocery store and the gas pump. Our young people face a tough job market, with the youth unemployment rate remaining roughly double the overall rate. Read the #2026ScorecardReport to learn more: bit.ly/ScorecardReport2026

"The mood in this country is better than it was over the past number of years. Canadians are feeling more positive about key aspects of our economy and society. But also, there is a sense of urgency in Canada, especially around skills, reskilling and training. That’s why the tagline of the #2026ScorecardReport—'Time to Execute’—is so important. While these are uncertain times, I truly believe we are on the cusp of something great.”—Hon. Anne McLellan “By working together, Canada can reverse the current decline of productivity. The responsibility falls on all of us to ensure plans set out by both elected and non-elected leaders are carried through. Now, let's go out and build Canada!”—Hon. @lraitt Our co-chairs take the stage for closing remarks, rounding out today’s insightful and educational event. "Data is something that's going to be very important going forward. Where the data is stored is very sensitive. Transactions with data sovereignty are going to be very important. It's going to be partially about deregulating, but also making sure the banks are more competitive, and giving them more room to compete with each other. 🌳 Canada's climate progress is stalling. Although 2023 saw #GHG #emissions drop to 694 Mt CO2 eq, data from the @ClimateInstit estimates 2024 levels will remain the same. However, Canada continues to be a world leader in low-carbon power, with 80% of our #electricity coming from #hydro and #nuclear. Our energy transition shows potential—but we won’t be able to keep up the momentum without 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 and 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 👉 Read the full #2026ScorecardReport to learn more about Canada’s energy landscape. bit.ly/ScorecardReport2026 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘥 𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘳, #𝘎𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺, 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘢’𝘴 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨-𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸’𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺. #BetterFutureForCanada #GrowingSustainably #cdnpoli #cdnecon

🇨🇦Canada’s challenge isn’t #innovation. It’s turning 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 into globally #competitive companies that scale and continue to grow domestically. We currently boast 28 “#Narwhals”—privately held companies valued at over $1B USD—up from just three in 2020. But since 2020, Canada has seen only two “unicorn exits.” Meanwhile, the U.S. has seen more than 700. Without strong exit pathways, our most trailblazing #startups are more likely to be acquired by foreign firms instead of becoming 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 👉 Explore the full analysis in the #2026ScorecardReport. bit.ly/ScorecardReport2026 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦: #𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘚𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥’𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘳, 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴. #BetterFutureForCanada #WinningGlobally #cdnpoli #cdnecon

#𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮’𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. Our investment gap has reached critical levels. Canadian #workers get just 55 cents of new capital investment for every $1 in the U.S. That gap is even worse for the “tools” of the future—41 cents for machinery and equipment, and only 32 cents for software and R&D. 🛠️ GDP per person is just 75% of the U.S. level, wages lag by $7/hour, and Canada’s productivity per hour worked ranks 18th out of 38 countries. If we don’t change direction, this gap threatens #growth, #competitiveness, and #opportunity for Canadian workers. “Canada has the talent and training foundation but a paradox persists: strong education on one hand, and youth unemployment and underemployment on the other, with too little focus on real-world experience or innovation ... And students need to lean in as well.” Stephen Lucas shares his perspective on a conversation focused on the “workforce of the future.” Joined by @vcmancinelli and @claudio__rojas, and moderated by @michaelserapio, the panel delved into the essential skills and talent that Canada will need to drive and sustain long-term economic growth. #2026ScorecardReport #BetterFutureForCanada #cdnpoli #cdnecon #livingbetter #growingsustainably #winningglobally

"We need to build where the communities are. We are way too concentrated geographically and a small handful of cities. It is creating massive turbulence as it relates to our unity as a country. So how we design our economic policy needs to be regionally inclusive," says @claudio__rojas.
