March 19, 2024. Home cameras in Mississippi catch a 14-year-old girl coming home from school with her mom.
Minutes later she walks down the hallway with a .357 behind her back. 3 shots.
Then she texts her stepdad from her mom's phone: "Honey, when are you going to be home?"
An hour later he walks through the door. She's waiting behind the curtains.
In the video below, the family's home cameras show everything: the walk in from school, the gun behind her back, the shots, her stepdad coming home, and her running.
Her name is Carly Gregg. Her mother, Ashley Smylie, was 40 and taught at the same school Carly went to.
The gun was under the mattress on her mom's side of the bed. On camera, Carly peeks into the kitchen to make sure her mom isn't there, then walks to her own bedroom, where Ashley was waiting.
After the shots, prosecutors say she video-called classmates and showed them her mother's body. A friend came over. According to him, she said: "I put three in my mom. I've got three more for my stepdad."
When Heath Smylie came home, she shot him in the shoulder. He wrestled the gun out of her hands. She jumped the fence and ran. An officer found her on a nearby road. Asked if she had anything to do with the shooting, she said yes.
She turned down a plea deal for 40 years and went to trial. Her defense said she heard voices and that her new medication made her worse. The state's psychiatrist said she knew exactly what she was doing.
On the stand, her stepdad called her "just a sweet little girl." He said he still doesn't think she recognized him that day.
In August 2024, at 15, she was found guilty on every count and sentenced to life. Her lawyers are now asking the Mississippi Supreme Court to overturn it.
Was Carly Gregg a sick child no one saw falling apart, or a 14-year-old who planned every step and knew exactly what she was doing?
Mariah Clayton shot her friend Aniyah Womack while posing with a rifle for TikTok. Then she lied about it at the hospital. Then she tried to work the detectives in the interrogation room, touching them and turning her back to them. It didn't help.
Womack was 19. She was filming Clayton in a bathroom when Clayton held up a black rifle as a prop. A man walked in and told them to stop playing with it. He reached for the gun. Clayton pulled away. It went off and hit Womack in the stomach.
Instead of calling 911, Clayton and a driver took Womack to the ER and told staff they found her wounded on a sidewalk. The driver later told police he went to the apartment to buy weed and people there said Womack "shot herself."
Womack died hours later. Police took 135 days to arrest Clayton. She was charged with manslaughter. The warrant said her "culpably negligent actions" made her "directly responsible" for Womack's death.
She first pleaded not guilty. In March 2024 she flipped her plea. The judge gave her 5 years.
Her friend is dead because of a TikTok video. She got 5 years and acted like it was nothing. Fair sentence or a joke?

He points fingers at Trayvon Lane, challenging the narrative surrounding that night.
Was Death Row’s internal chaos bigger than people realized? 👀
