Thaai Kizhavi was the best movie of 2026 till September month but within one month span Mandaadi, Dorothy and Baththa - all exceeded that IMO.
Phenomenal movies all 3, reminding me of golden run during Sep-October 2018.
It is often said that "A film gets international only when you make it as rooted and local as possible" and #Baththa is another proof for it.
The setting of the movie might be 80s TN, but a gangster getting transformed behind closed door by a little boy is absolute world cinema

Suriya is on a mission to clean one criticism after another made on him.
His previous movie #VishwanathAndSons has been his best movie in past 5 years.
