Anterior approach THA procedures displayed faster set-up, closure, take-down, and OR times compared to posterior. AA reduces total OR time by nearly 10 minutes, although operative time with AA is more significantly impacted by cementation. arthroplastyjournal.org/arti…

This is the most “The European mind can’t comprehend this” moment of my life. One of my friends said, “Punch me five times tomorrow and I’ll still think this isn’t real.”

They’ve been doing that. I’ve been retired for 18 months and have had (3) recoups now for thousands for surgeries performed in ‘23 & ‘24. Ins Co’s can go back upto (5) years. And you’re right, you have zero recourse. They take it and that’s it! It’s criminal and yet nothing from our national leadership.

In TKA without patellar resurfacing (PR) for inflammatory arthritis (IA) compared to OA, there were no differences in reoperations, revisions, patella-related complications, or anterior knee pain. Additionally, PR did not improve outcomes in IA. arthroplastyjournal.org/arti…

Neither confirming nor denying what I matched into, but there is nothing loser-like to match into family medicine. More family medicine docs are sorely needed in this country and has some amazing doctors 💕 nothing but respect
Lmao exactly what a weak minded loser would say. Good job matching into Family Med loser.

Scrubs is awesome. That said, it has to be ER for me. It was pretty instrumental in me going into medicine and hits me square in the feels when I watch (for reasons I don’t understand at times). My fav character- Abby Lockhart.

And this is why surgical residencies shouldn’t limit hours and should weed out those who don’t have the mental toughness and endurance to be a surgeon. Emergencies have no schedule. We have recruited and trained “shift workers” over the last 20yrs. I don’t want to hear about we must have well rested surgeons. Would you rather have no surgeon, or a surgeon show up when duty calls.
🚨 HE WENT TO BED - THEN SPENT ALL NIGHT TRYING TO SAVE A PARALYZED STRANGER A neurosurgeon turns on the camera at 9:30 PM. He was already in bed. Half asleep. Then the call comes in. A patient just arrived paralyzed at a Level One trauma center. Coffee. Uber. Silence. By 11:30 PM, he’s making the incision. The case drags on for five straight hours. One wrong move and the damage is permanent. At 6:00 AM, he walks out exhausted. The surgery worked. The patient is doing well. But the night isn’t over. He’s still on call. Still writing notes in the back of an Uber. Still expected to function like nothing happened. Just a man trading his night so someone else gets a lifetime. While you slept… this happened. Would you trust your life to someone running on zero sleep - or does this reveal how broken the system really is?

The distinction here is important. In a small physician practice using cash-basis accounting, the largest part of the “cost” of providing the service is the physician’s own labor and time. The IRS does not treat owner labor as a deductible expense, so when a claim is never paid, the majority of the economic loss is never recognized.
