The problem with Busia county is one, you can't tell whether one is Luo/Samia/Manyalal/Marachi/Wanga or Teso. They are all the same in language, custom and traditions. Cross marriages with Luos have caused this. Busia, Kakamega and Vihiga is and extension of Luo Kingdom.
The hate Bukusus have with other 15 sub tribes of the Luhyas is their lack of integration with the Luos and other Luhyas.
That's why Sifuna is finding it hard to convince all Luhyas to be onboard. Wetangula is only respected in Bungoma and parts of Trans Nzoia, not in Busia, Vihiga or Kakamega.
So are any Bukusu leaders, the war between Wamalwa Kijana and Raila, most Luhyas (15/16) tribes were with Raila. Bukusus remaind loyal to Wamalwa and those who came after him.
