WILDWOOD is a sweeping, handcrafted fantasy rich in theme, gorgeous at every scale, and emotionally heavy. It’s the most impressive thing Laika has made and the animation medium has produced. It’s a reminder of how invaluable the human touch is in artistry. My review for @nerdspin_: nerdspin.com/wildwood-review…

🚨 BREAKING: A Black couple showed up to tour an apartment in Queens... and the broker accidentally texted THEM instead of the owner: "Ugh. They are Black."
They'd just moved from Delaware for her new job. Now they're SUING Douglas Elliman, the agent AND the owners.
"It doesn't change the pain. It doesn't take away the pain you caused us that day."
Think about it. They were judged before they even had a chance.
They only found out because she texted the wrong person. Most people never do.

This Forbes investigation is a must-read.
Donald Trump pulled in roughly $1.4 billion from crypto in 2025, plus more than $200 million from real estate, and faced a projected tax bill north of $500 million. So his company donated the "development rights" to his Jupiter, Florida golf course to a land trust, argued the course was a natural habitat worth protecting, and kept right on running the club. Forbes estimates the write-off could land around $825 million.
He has done this at least five times since 2005. New York's attorney general alleged two of those appraisals were inflated. In Doral, he claimed a deduction of up to $323 million, more than double what he paid for the entire resort.
A month after the Jupiter deal, he sued the IRS. The settlement his own Justice Department signed bars claims against him over matters that "could be pending," language that appears broad enough to cover this year's taxes. A federal judge found the case was brought to manipulate the judicial process. And the man now running the IRS, who took the job as this deal was being assembled, has a home backing onto those same Jupiter fairways.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Nobody should be able to use the presidency to write his own tax bill.

As much acclaim as the fourth season of Netflix's The Diplomat is getting, why isn't it a more pervasive hit? I blame Netflix's stubborn insistence on binge releasing episodes, making it tougher to build buzz. I talked about it on the NPR/WBUR show Here and Now today, and wrote a bit on Substack. loom.ly/3oKf_wY

This is bad.
Owning a piece of Paramount-Warner Bros. would give Elon Musk a place at the table on Skydance's biggest decisions.
On Thursday, came word that Elon would make a (start with?) $1 billion investment in the David Ellison company, according to a Semafor report. David and his father Larry are in the hole for $79 billion, and you can only cut that much staff to make up the difference. A cool $10 bil from Elon, even if not all of it is in cash, takes the bankers’ pressure off you. A chill $1b already helps.
But the Ellisons’ financial breathing room comes in a distant second, consequence-wise, to what such an investment would create: a backdoor for Musk to enter the media-entertainment world.

Alex Gibney on Elon Musk: “I do think the space thing was the little kid looking up at the stars, but ultimately it becomes another con. Next year we’re not gonna be on Mars and we’re not gonna be on Mars in 10 years, we’re not gonna be on Mars in 50 years. It’s just bullshit”
