William Evans tenía 7 años, tenía autismo y vivía con su madre Kaitlin Evans.
Su madre mantenía una relación con dos trans, Nessa Keaney y Kirby Rankin, y los había invitado a mudarse con ella al departamento en el que vivía con su hijo.
Pues bien, nuevo caso aislado.
La madre, en cuanto se mudaron los trans con ella, aisló al niño impidiéndole ver al padre biológico y a sus abuelos, que comentaban que las últimas veces que vieron al niño, les había dicho que no quería volver con su madre, que tenía miedo. Los abuelos contaban que el niño tenía moretones.
¿Cuál fue el desenlace final del caso? Los trans torturaron y abusaron del niño durante meses, sin que la madre siquiera intentara detenerlos. La policía encontró al pequeño amordazado y sin vida en un armario. Golpes, lesiones, quemaduras por todo su cuerpo, muchos recientes y muchos de larga data. Torturaron a la criatura con saña durante meses hasta que lo asesinaron.
Huelga decir que Kirby Rankin tenía antecedentes de violencia y amenazas.
Increíble que una mujer fuera capaz de meter a semejantes monstruos a su casa; y más increíble aún que fuera tan infame de entregarles a su propio hijo para que lo abusaran y asesinaran hasta la muerte. Es un verdadero espanto. Me recuerda a casos como el de Lucio Dupuy, o el de Ángel.
Descansa en paz William Evans. No te merecías esto.

His grandparents shared a video of him just WEEKS before he was found m*rdered.
He was laughing and splashing in the pool in perfect health.
Just a few weeks later he was found dead in a closet, tied up and tortured.
His mother and two men pretending to be women were arrested.

あの日から、迷ったら店の人に任せています。だいたい、人生でいちばん美味しいものが出てきます。
言葉を持たない男は、たった一つの質問に全部を賭けるしかありません。

ぼんじり。僕はゆっくりうなずきました。ぼんじりを完全に理解している男のうなずき方で。
何も知りませんでした。
そこで失敗しました。「それは何ですか」と聞いてしまったのです。

本番は、来ませんでした。
ブラジルの串は竹の剣です。四角い肉が六つ。運ばれてきた時点で、人間一人が満たされます。料理ではありません。宣言です。
そして、食べました。
星が見えました。
ブラジル人はピッカーニャを誇ります。でも、ブラジルでは売ってすらいないこの小さな一本が、同じ食卓に座れる味でした。
ここでは、串は食事ではありません。言葉です。言いたいことを言い終わるまで、頼み続けるのです。
あの夜、日本語は話せませんでした。身振り手振りだけで、三時間、あの肉をほめ続けました。
「おいしい」だけは、伝わりました。
二十年以上が経った今でも、最初の一本は、ぼんじりです。

If Muhammad is their most high prophet and they repeat his name over and over and over daily throughout their entire lives, you would think seeing Muhammad even as an hallucination would be a much more common near death experience, but it’s not

La ville tourne le dos à ses entrepreneurs
Montréal perd son énergie entrepreneuriale depuis vingt ans et rien ne laisse croire que la tendance s'inverse en 2026. Les jeunes familles quittent la ville pour la banlieue ou la région. Elles laissent derrière elles des rues moins animées et des commerces qui peinent à survivre.
Les taxes grimpent chaque année. La vie devient plus chère pour les citoyens. Plus dure pour ceux qui veulent lancer un projet.
L'administration actuelle, comme la précédente, change sans cesse le sens des rues. Les grandes artères se transforment en labyrinthes. Les pistes cyclables s'installent sur les rues commerciales et font disparaître les stationnements. Les clients ont du mal à se garer. Ils ont du mal à entrer dans les magasins.
Les livraisons ralentissent. Les clients se font plus rares. Les commerçants vendent moins. Même la police, les pompiers et les ambulances perdent de précieuses minutes à cause de ces changements. Des minutes qui comptent.
Les entrepreneurs locaux affrontent toujours plus d'obstacles. Les coûts restent élevés. La circulation est difficile. Les clients s'éloignent. Le dynamisme de la ville s'effrite. Les gens créatifs et motivés partent ailleurs.
Et au sommet, rien ne bouge. L'administration municipale est gigantesque. Elle compte des milliers d'employés, beaucoup d'élus et une armée de hauts fonctionnaires souvent choisis pour d'autres raisons que la compétence. Elle multiplie les contrats avec des firmes externes qui coûtent cher. Les élus multiplient les discours. Ils soignent leur image plus qu'ils n'encouragent l'entrepreneuriat.
Montréal parle beaucoup d'avenir. Mais chaque jour, elle tue un peu plus le présent de ceux qui osent encore créer.
Une ville qui veut vraiment un avenir doit d'abord cesser de nuire à son présent.

This is impressive, but the number that stands out to me is how small the budget still is.
$1M to $2M a year is not much money for a project doing serious OS security work. Apple and Google operate at a completely different scale, with security, silicon, firmware, hardware validation, infrastructure and research budgets that dwarf this by orders of magnitude.
GrapheneOS punches far above its weight partly because it can build on AOSP and existing Pixel hardware.
If the long term goal includes shipping their own phone, the economics change dramatically. You are no longer funding an OS team. You are funding hardware engineering, secure boot and key management, firmware, modem integration, supply chain security, manufacturing, certification, testing, vulnerability research and years of device support.
That requires a very different level of capital.
Around 15 people, backed primarily by donations, already produce one of the strongest hardened mobile operating systems available. That is remarkable.
The harder question for the privacy and security community is how projects like @GrapheneOS get from a few million dollars in donations to sustainable, independent security R&D at the scale required to build both the software and the hardware.
GrapheneOS is entirely funded by donations. GrapheneOS Foundation is on track to get between $1m to $2m in donations for 2026 which is up from a bit over $500k in 2024. GrapheneOS Foundation already pays around 15 people and we're hiring more developers.
