I wish more people had read this book. I wish it had been reviewed by outlets that had previously reviewed my books. I wish it had been discussed by people who previously discussed my books. But it appeared in 2021. Not a year in which facing reality was in vogue.
Is it the case that the UK forbids anything hotter than lukewarm for showers? Or did Sofitel decide to do so on its own?

An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.

The Stuarts founded the Royal African Company, but they were pushed out of power a couple decades after.
New York is named after one of the founders of the company. Does the name bother NY Times staffers?
I am deleting this post, which was wrong. But Passage should feel free to use my retraction along with my apology as evidence that it was wrong.

I have checked, and it was simply my error. The publisher who passed on it wasn't Passage. No excuse.

I have heard (and accept) that Passage didn't reject the MS. I thought my information was correct. I was wrong.

I have no opinion on the paper because I've read only the abstract. But I am absolutely for certain sure that I could have written an abstract that said the same thing in half the length, using simple words. Ridiculously academic.

When making this kind of argument, a useful first step is to look at the culture and ask what characteristics a people would have to possess to create such a culture. With the Chinese for example, what kind of people would create such a written language that creates such ferocious demands on visuospatial skills? With the Jews, what kind of people would create the Talmud? Or shift from a religion of the temple to a religion of the book which required advanced literacy as a condition of full membership? It's not really a chicken and egg proposition (at least to me). The parsimonious explanation is by far the more plausible one.

The conference panels at this American Psychological Association division event are so absurd that someone who hasn't been paying attention to the APA might think @SwipeWright and @Hartz_PhD made them up.
But those of us who've followed the APA for the last several years are entirely unphased by the fact that all the absolute junk being pushed has nothing to do with good psychological or therapeutic principles.
