These are, as far as I can tell all assertions on both sides. Had any news organization had an independent computer expert explore the systems they’re arguing about?
Elon Musk lies again. Civilian Starlink was already speed-limited, and every terminal had to be whitelisted. Yet Starshield was throttled too, which can’t be explained by alleged ToS violations. His explanations keep contradicting each other, making his claims even less credible

Probably one of the most horrifying statistics I have seen today Married + home by 30 years old in America > 1950: 50% > 1960: 52% > 1970: 48% > 1980: 45% > 1990: 43% > 2000: 35% > 2010: 25% > 2026: 12%

According to the Palestinian Authority's official school textbooks for grades 6 through 9: • The Canaanites were Arabs • Palestine grew tomatoes and potatoes in the 600s • Muslims invented zero and reached America in the 800s • The Third Crusade was in 1291, sent by "Britain" • George Washington declared independence at the "Third Philadelphia Congress" • World War I was fought by the Axis • Israel burned al-Aqsa • A terrorist who killed 13 children on a bus killed "soldiers" • Ancient Israel did not exist This is what UNRWA and PA schools are teaching to children. Let's take a journey through the Palestinian Authority's fantasy world. 🧵

Well. Wedgewood polls:
We removed Wedgewood "polls" from our database, will write more about that tonight/tomorrow. These polls tended to be ~1 point more favorable for Ds than the consensus. Biggest change in MI (El-Sayed goes from +3.6 to +3.0) but that also reflects the Marist AES +2 being added.

At Cornell: Frat Choice?

Massive concession: Los Angeles election officials just told a federal court they have no independent way to verify citizenship beyond what voters attest. (They simply take their word for it.) Under federal law, only citizens may vote in federal elections. Yet California has not acted on the list of 20,000 suspected noncitizens or agreed to set aside their ballots. American citizens’ votes are being diluted in California.

Last night, the 3-year-old came into our room at 3:30 am, whimpering, because she'd had a bad dream. The terrifying nightmare in question? It was her older sister's birthday, but somehow, THERE WAS NO CAKE!

Last week, two Columbia students dared to offer a dissenting opinion on the Cornell case—they got death threats and were told they should not be allowed to speak. @Nikos_Mohammadi and Christina Ma argued no more than that students should think before arriving at sweeping conclusions about a complex case, and that it was infantilizing to suggest women could not make decisions they might later regret. None of their detractors have so-far been able to offer a coherent response to their arguments—except making personal attacks and saying they should not be allowed to speak. In that regard, they've already won the argument. My latest in @CityJournal here: city-journal.org/article/cor…

Alina Habba and the 40 thieves ?
SCOOP: Julio Herrera Velutini, a Venezuelan billionaire, really wanted a pardon. He got it not long after his daughter hired Alina Habba, a lawyer close to Trump, in a deal worth more than $50 million. Habba was also working at DOJ at the time. nytimes.com/2026/10/20/us/po…

I love all the comments below telling me how I wasn’t teaching when using scripts. I guess my students’ scores and the success they experienced were staged. That whole National Direct Instruction conference, where DI aficionados get together and practice teaching? NOT teaching!
Actors use scripts. Musicians use sheet music. Surgeons follow established procedures. Why are scripts for teachers treated as an affront to professionalism? @ehanford explains why Direct Instruction uses them.
